Kevin Rose has a habit of claiming to have the latest secrets from Apple, from iPhones to iPods. This latest has more credence than most, since it fits with previous rumours, and comes with pictorial 'evidence'.

The picture is supposed to be of the new iPod Nano, which he predicts will land in the next three weeks. We already heard it would feature a larger screen for video playback, so perhaps he's not too far off the money with this one.

istik-nano-yoga.jpgI'm going to go out on a limb here and state unequivocally that everyone loves magnets. Advancing technology may make us less than impressed with yesterday's gadgets, but magnets continue to enthral us with their apparent use of voodoo (or "science, if you must), something that these iStik iPod cases capitalise on to great effect. What would surely have been an iPod case fit only for the very nerdiest of nerdlingers had it incorporated - say - poppers, is suddenly rendered attractive to me thanks to the admirable application of magnets, which you use to attach the iPod to your clothes, freeing up your limbs for a spot of beach-based yogic activity.

Griffin Powerdock for iPod addicts

I want to scoff at the people who could fill this Apple-centric charging dock, but I confess, I'm a three iPod family. You can get this in a two or four dock version, and it comes with a rather lovely brushed aluminium paint job, which makes it almost iPod art.

It's also compatible with everything as far back as the Mini and the iPods with clickwheels, although you show me someone who's got one of those that didn't conk out ages ago and I'll show you a gosh darn liar.

$49.99 for 2 dock, $69.99 for 4 from Griffin [via Geek Sugar]

If you were a fan of the older style Nano, with its longer body and curved edges, you're in luck. Rumour has it it's making a reappearance, in order to accommodate a new larger screen. There have been murmurings of a multicoloured body, but thankfully, this doesn't seem to be the case.

Slated to appear 'later in the year', this mock-up seems to take lots of cues all the way back from the iPod Mini. There's also been similarities drawn between this and the Zune. Of course, we wouldn't know anything about that, since we've never seen one, being in the UK and all. *sob*

beverly_hills_ipod.jpgThe teen stars of Beverly Hills 90210 have all grown up, collecting an assortment of marriages, rap sheets and questionable career moves amongst them. But they're back! And the new spin-off 90210 promises to be car crash viewing, by the looks of it.

But you can celebrate them in all their fresh-faced beauty, with this customised iPod Nano. With the faces of Brandon, Kelly, Brenda, and Dylan (complete with *a lot* of hair) staring out at you, it's hard not to yearn for a happier, sunnier time past, before Shannon Doherty did time and Tori Spelling became a reality TV harlot.

It seems there has been somewhat of a *cough* fuck-up *cough* over at Apple HQ, with the temporary (and unscheduled) appearance of the entire Apps store, completely stocked up with hundreds of apps. Some quick witted soul screen grabbed their little heart out, with the result fully documented here.

This is most exciting - there are some great apps coming our way! What's also very exciting is that this is the first opportunity I've had to play around with some new gallery functionality here on Shiny Shiny. Fingers crossed, you'll be seeing more of this loveliness in the weeks to come. Go and have a nosy around and see the pretty pictures - just click that first piccy.

iTunes App store to launch tomorrow?

iphone_apps.jpgOfficially speaking, the new app store should launch on Friday, ready for the public to take advantage of the new functionality when the iPhones get made available. However, unnamed sources/rumourmongers/voices in the wind are suggesting that it might launch tomorrow, Thursday, at 5pm GMT.

Power_tune.jpgThis is one of those handy accessories that'll save you from carting around too many iPod gadgets in one go. It's a portable speaker, battery charger, a protective case and a stand - all-in-one. The speaker has two built-in 500mw speakers with volume control and also doubles up as the battery charger which you connect to a USB port for juice.

The PowerTune, designed for iPod Classic and 5th generation iPods, is space efficient and highly practical. And it's small enough to fit into your trouser pocket, so won't feel like a burden and make you wish you'd left it at home. It'll set you back $39.99 USD, which is a great price considering it wouldn't be this cheap to purchase these accessories individually.

Between a rock and a 3G iPhone

You wouldn't believe the internal struggle I've been coping with over the past few days. It's been the kind of epic head vs heart battle more suited to Victorian novellas than my own So Called Life. In fact, I'm thinking of suing Apple for emotional trauma.

To cut a long story short, the night before I was due to board a plane for ten hours, my 5th Gen iPod died. I have the kiss of death with iPods, since this was my second to give up the ghost in two years. So, that was it. Apple was dead to me - the haters were right all along.

And then they launched the damn 3G iPhone.

itunes_films.jpg

It's not The Announcement, but it is An Announcement. Apple is throwing the gates of iTunes open, and finally making films available for rental or purchase in the UK. That means you'll be able to transfer them to your iPod or iPhone, as well as watch them on your PC, Mac or TV (if you've got an Apple TV).

For full on purchasing, you're looking at £10.99 for new releases, and £6.99 for library titles. Rentals will cost £3.49 and £2.49 respectively, and that will bag you 48 hours of movie watching time. You can also pay an extra £1 to get the high def version.

But is it too little too late?

BT.jpgA few of us at Shiny went to the BT Podshow at Shoreditch House (woohoo) on Tuesday. We were there for a fair few hours, during which time we managed to sneak up to the roof-deck and sit by the pool (ha ha to those that didn't). However by the time we left, none of us would have been able to tell you what BT were launching. No one showed us a thing. I had to read their press pack to fill myself in.

I guess the clue was in the name of the event - BT Podshow, so must have something to do with podcasts. It turns out BT was launching an online-entertainment network (ahh so that's why there were LCDs sporadically placed playing random TV clips then) that will host hours and hours of entertainment which you'll be able to download, any time, any place and on any device including an iPod (of course) and MP3 players.

audiowrapz.jpgBored of your current iPod Nano accessories or maybe you're just fed up of untangling your headphones each time you pull it from the depths of your bag? Maybe you feel like you're due a change. iFrogz has a solution.

Simply pop your iPod Nano into the Audiowrapz speaker case. And unless you start to miss how your Nano originally looked, you'll never need to remove it from this casing ever again, not to mention never having to untangle those blasted headphone wires.

Gear 4 street wear.jpgHoodies have become some kind of social stigma over the past couple of years. We're not sure if this will put you off purchasing one of Gear4's streetwear iPod covers, as you know, you might feel the need to commit some kind of crime coz that's apparently what hoodies do to you!!

If however, you're not a complete ignoramus, and like the idea of dressing your iPod in these cool hoodie designs, you'll need a 3G iPod Nano and £9.99. Then go ahead and make your purchase here.

The iPod hoodies are available in grey and pink and both feature a drawstring hood, a coat hook to attach a keyring and a velcro pocket to store your headphones.

transformers.jpgThe hype created from the release of the Transformers movie has died down a bit now and we've moved on to Iron Man. However, true fans never forget and will probably be the only people to appreciate this transforming Optimus Prime iPod dock.

This purpose of this iPod speaker dock is twofold. Firstly (and obviously) it's an iPod dock, a mini-speaker system if you will. Secondly, and I'm not sure yet if it's more important, it's a bona fide Transformer toy. To be specific, it's Optimus Prime convoy - so one of the good guys (yay).

BC.jpgThe Otterbox Defender case is back and this time it's all in the name of breast cancer. This particular version has been designed for the iPod Nano 3rd generation and iPhone, in a dazzling pink for drop, shock and bump protection.

What's also really good about this collaboration is 10% of each purchase will go to the Avon Breast Cancer Crusade to "support access to care and finding a cure for breast cancer, with a focus on the medically underserved." So not only do you get a rugged iPod case, you get to feel good about your purchase too and know that you've donated money to a brilliant cause.

HSM.jpgHigh School Musical fans (and ladies who aren't fans of the film but ardent fans of *cue screams now* Zac Efron) this will be perfect for you. This silicone case is completely covered with High School Musical memorabilia which will either make you a winner or a complete loser (depending on who you hang around with).

Like most silicone covers, this one also will protect your iPod from all the knocks it's gonna get during your attempts to imitate HSM dance routines with your HSM playlist. But unlike most iPod Nano cases you get to stare at Troy for as long as your heart desires.

nano speaker.jpg
Your Nano is the ultimate in portability, and Creative have come up with the ultimate in portable speakers to fit. The i80 docking station has four drivers and a digital amplifier to maximise the noise coming out of this tiny speaker. The rechargeable battery is topped up vis USB and you'll get 15 hours playing time between charges.

Which is all well and good, but doesn't it look back to front in this picture?

ipod lamp.jpg
We can't be purveyors of sparkly tat and cutting edge concepts all the time you know. Sometimes we find stuff that you might actually buy, like this lamp from iHome. The design screams functional, and since the two things you're likely to have on your bedside table is a lamp and an iPod dock, combining the two leaves more room for tea mugs.

There are a couple of less-attractive lamps to choose from, and all come in both black and white, and all fit all the docking iPods. There's even a reasonable-ish £99 price tag.

Zeppelin_Classic_Black.jpgWe first got all excited over this rugby ball zeppelin-shaped iPod dock from purveyors of uber-luxurious gadgetry Bowers and Wilkins back in August last year. It's finally made it to the UK, for £399 (compared to the US $600). So we can afford it even less, but it's still pretty, damn it.

For a reminder of the spec, head over the jump.

AirZone FM Dock_HIGHRES.jpgWe wish! But we like to encourage GEAR4's optimism, with the release of the new AirZone FM Dock. The "Made for iPod" unit is an FM transmitter designed to let your iPod play through a radio, iTrip style.

Small and sleek, it's handy for the car or a holiday; the teeny dock also features a back-lit LED screen, four adjustable presets and support for stereo sound with full bass. It draws power from the iPod itself so unlike a lot of in-car sets it doesn't require batteries or an external power supply.
