What's better than a Hello Kitty doll? A Hello Kitty doll covered in Swarovski crystals of course.

With precisely 19,636 crystals studded into its surface this iteration of the iconic cat is pretty glittery. And also rare - only 88 of these magnificent beasts will be made.

A 8m inflatable Hello Kitty surveys the changing light over a Tokyo cityscape while shooting lasers and water jets and bobbing gently in the wind. This is a great video. The enormous Hello Kitty was placed in Tokyo Bay as part of a spectacle to encourage tree planting, of course.

Don't know how we missed this gem when it came out in August.

Just when you thought Hello Kitty toys couldn't get weirder, along comes a Hello Kitty toy with a see-through stomach and a collection of visible internal organs.

113 dr-romanelli-hello-kitty-medicom-toy-anatomy-2.jpg

Designed by Dr Romanelli in collaboration with Saniro and Medicom, biology gets a Hello Kitty touch too. Instead of looking like they sort urine from blood or perform those other tasks that organs do, Hello Kitty's organs are sort of cute, in co-ordinated shades of lilac and they smile too.

I wouldn't like to think that this was the only tool given to children for understanding the biology of the human body. Otherwise we'll have a generation growing up thinking that livers have eyes and hair ribbons. Yet i suppose it's a good way of introducing kids to the general idea of internal organs, or of pleasing slightly weird adults by giving a Frankensteiny twist to Japanese cute. It is exactly the right toy for people who always wondered what Hello Kitty looks like on the inside.

Hello Kitty had a stall at CES showcasing some of their finest plastic merchandise. The eyes of innovation-hungry techies may not have been on classics like the Hello Kitty waffle-maker or the HK manicure set, but we certainly enjoyed seeing them set out together like this. And the jewel in the Hello Kitty gadget crown..? well you'll have to watch the vid to find out:

(Ashley's voice-over sounds a little jetlagged. But we know he loves Hello Kitty merchandise really.)

Most Hello Kitty merchandise is available from Amazon.co.uk

Hello Kitty has released a new music video for its furry heroine. The new video/trailer plays what is described as a "fabulous catchy tune" and shows a snippet of gameplay from Hello Kitty Online - the Multi-Player online game.

It's upbeat, cheery pop, a shortened version of the new HKO song "The World is Saying Hello" by The Sanrio Digital Frequency. Tantalisingly the full tune (and something a little extra) is available online somewhere in the game, so you'll have to log in to HKO to hear the full version. Hint: you'll hear the full song in one of the places seen in the video.

Enthusiastic Youtube comments include: "must find full song new life goal in progress". My favourite bit is the telephone chat at the beginning, that's how I'm going to start all telephone conversations with my friends from now on.

Watch below. Be happy. Say hello.

Flik Flak launch Hello Kitty watches

hello-kitty-flik-flak.jpgHello Kitty fans will be clawing their way to one of these watches by Flik Flak. The new collection, by the children's watch designer, comes in three different designs.

The Hello Kitty & Pencil Pot is red and white with cupcakes and cherries on the strap. It also has a yellow second hand, for those of us who are a bit short sighted, and also comes with a bonus pencil holder and 2 pencils, making it perfect for die hard Hello Kitty fans.

Hello Kitty Angel is decorated with teddy bears and clouds. It also has twelve sparkling pink crystals separating the five-minute intervals. They also pick up the colour of the dial's heart-covered background.

Those that want to be a little bit more subtle with their Hello Kitty accessories will love the Hello Kitty Cute Fashion watch, which is black with a jagged black bezel.

Prices range from £27.95 to £33.95. Not a bad price if you need to buy more than one.

60 - SUGAR LYING DOWN.jpgFor those Hello Kitty fangirls out there, there's a new cute cat in town, Angel Cat Sugar. From the creator of the world's most famous cat, Yuko Shimizu, she is the star of a new computer game, coming out the 1st October.

Combing three lovely things in her name, she has angel wings and spreads love and happiness through her kindness to others. She's been around since 2002, but is only hitting the games market now. Angel Cat and her best friends Basil, Parsley and Thyme all feature.

The game, on Nintendo DS, brings Angel Cat Sugar to life as it takes players into "the magical Angel World, where they too can help make the world a better place through kindness".

Hello Kitty
Since I'm on a bit of an iPhone and laptop roll and our readers (yes you) have expressed a great keenness in Hello Kitty, we thought it would only be right to give you your fur ball fix.

The fashionable feline, who celebrated her £35 birthday this year (we take it that's in cat years or we want to know what moisturiser she uses) has a range of games and iPhone applications dedicated to her.
We have a look at the top ones.

A netbook with Hello Kitty all over it? Hmm. You'd assume they might have sacrificed substance for style, but surprisingly this isn't the case. I test drive the Medion S1211 and discover how impressive the specs are (160GB HDD anyone) whilst fighting my urge to call it cute.

Are you still carrying a couple Christmas pounds? I know I am, and as it's nearly Feb (with the dreaded Valentine's day looming), I feel like I should get my arse into gear. And naturally, being the queen of the couch, I'd like a quick fix rather than putting in time at the gym.

Well Slendertone style devices have been around for a while, and they tend to tone the muscles, rather than slenderize you. Still, if there's only a thin layer of flab on your midriff, you could get noticeable results whilst catching up on LOST.

There seems no end to the Hello Kitty phenomena, as here we have yet another phone with the dreaded delightful cat. This time it's a little bit different though, as rather than slapping on a coat of pink paint and some decals, the model itself is cat shaped, which is an unusual twist.

They also offer a variety of colour options, from the expected pink, to yellow and blue, which is a nice touch.

Hello kitty flip.jpg

My god, this girl gets around doesn't she? I don't know how this one slipped underneath the radar, but while cruising the web I came across these wonderful Hello Kitty Flip modifications. Both the Mino and MinoHD have been given the Hello Kitty makeover and don't let the picture fool you , there are more than two designs - there are in fact 11 - which as a HK fan, even I can admit is perhaps a little excessive.

lucy hk.JPGRight, I've got five Hello Kitty Big City Dreams games for the Nintendo DS to give away and I can already tell, it's going to be a scorcher of a competition - coz everyone loves Hello Kitty right? I could have gone for an easy competition question like - what colour is Hello Kitty's bow? Or I could have gone for something painfully difficult like - what year did the Hello Kitty murder case shock Hong Kong? I won't go into the details, but if you're intrigued click here. But I think the competition will be a whole lot more interesting (mainly for me) if there's no specific answer at all. This is going to be more of a creative contest.

I love a bit of Hello Kitty blingage. And Hello Kitty and bling go together like Susi and wasabi peas (she loves them by the way, in case you're confused). It's one of those wonderful relationships like chocolate and chips, or cheese and small chunk Branston pickle - they really compliment each other. I don't really need to tell you how much I'm feeling this blingtastic Hello Kitty watch with the Swarovski sparklers, do I? I'm a fan and I think you'd need to be - this is clearly a watch for hardcore kitty fans.

Netbook_Hello_Kitty_003.jpg

The drought of Hello Kitty stuff seems to be over and she's back on top form. It was only last week we told you her royal kittyness is heading for the Nintendo DS with her Big City Dreams, well now straight from the mecca of Hello Kitty (or Hello Kitty Hell for some) is this lovely piece of eye candy - it's a Hello Kitty netbook. It seems the bandwagon had time to make a quick stop for Hello Kitty to jump on and plague us with more netbooks get one more miniature laptop out there as well as grab a piece of the netbook pie profits. I can see the guy behind Hello Kitty Hell now, down on his knees, with his head in his hands screaming "whhhhy?"

Hello Kitty Big City Dreams_NDS_Front_Of_Box_Flat.JPG

Things have been a little dry on the Hello Kitty front so I'm happy to see she's embarking on a new adventure by moving to the big city to follow her dreams. Hello Kitty Big City Dreams is all about Hello Kitty fun and exploration, so expect loads of cute and loveable friends, frilliness, an overuse of bright colours and irritating yet wonderful theme music. For all those who have fantasies about actually being Hello Kitty the dream ends here. You get to play as the ubiquitous and loveable kitty, exploring a world full of excitement, fun, frolic and friends.

hello_kitty_solar_phone_charger.jpgAlthough the summer is more or less officially over, there are still a few sunny days coming our way over the next few weeks (fingers crossed). That's when you might just need a solar powered phone charger to give your phone the juice it lacks because you've been on it all day or forgot to charge it the night before. You may as well inject some fun and cuteness into it too, by purchasing this disposable Hello Kitty solar charger.

Its solar charging powers gives a firm salute to the green team, although it is a disposable charger, and with no mention of it being made from earth friendly materials, its eco-friendly status doesn't seem so eco-friendly after all.

A Hello Kitty camera that's actually kinda good

A Hello Kitty camera with decent specs? I never! Putting aside the fact that it's the colour of artificial additives, we have a 8.1 megapixel camera and 3x optical zoom crammed inside a sleek Casio EXILIM body. You can look forward to a generous 2.6 inch TFT LCD screen, with 30 shooting modes, so be it food, pets or snow you'll have the right setting.
