Here at Shiny Towers it looks like another scorcher of a day, and we reckon you should make the most of it. No, not by slathering yourselves in cooking oil and frying yourselves to a crisp. By getting your hands on some gadgets which really can bring a bit of sunshine into your life.

And when it comes to solar powered gizmos we're not just talking about portable chargers. Check out our gallery for pretty party kit, robots and other miscellaneous goodies.

As you'll already know, today is all about the iPhone 4. But, for the lucky devils who have already managed to get their mitts on one, the shopping doesn't stop there. Our latest gallery just goes to show there's a whole host of lip-smacking accessories to make your mobile even more fun to fiddle with.

And we're not just talking about cases to make your phone look pretty (although they're good, too). Some of these can boost your audio and visual experience too.

There seem to be few Londoners left who still battle with public transport and are yet to be converted to the cycling revolution. Either they feel that work is a little 'too far' to arrive there solely under their own steam or they believe that getting on a bike is certainly going to end with them arriving at work a sweating heap or, worse, with a broken limb.

Technological development serves yet again to convert the unconvertible with the 'electric' bike. From now on that burdensome hill can be conquered without groaning through flaming thighs, by switching on the electrics allowing you to scoot up with ease. The easier, more effortless electric cycle allows you to roll up to work sweat free and smelling fresh.

It's also apparently safer to travel by electric rather than pedal bike, although I'm not sure I fully follow the logic here. Either way, if you think the electric bike is for you, check out these options.

It's a great phone and we're dying to get our hands on its slim flat back, glassy screen and retro-style buttons.

Anyway, no harm in filling the time till release date by browsing the internet for sexy cases, Apple-friendly headphones and imaginatively shaped docks. That's what we're doing anway.

Here are 10 more of our favourite iPhone 4 accessories.

The best iPad games so far

Comments (65)

One of the surprise areas the iPhone suceeded was gaming. And its one of the areas we're really looking for the iPad to build on.

There's been a barrage of early iPad games all vying to be the first Doodle Jump or Angry Birds and I've been busily working my way through them, in the gallant name of research, to bring you 10 of the best so far.

Not to brag, but I found some douzies: Awesome multiplayer games, word games, puzzle games, first person shooters, racing games. Actually the thing that's really struck me during my gaming tour-de-force was the breadth of game genres already available for the iPad and how well the majority had been carried off.

The slender silver-banded iPhone 4 set many hearts aflutter when Steve Jobs revealed it last night, and will undoubtedly open many wallets come June 24 when it arrives in UK shops. But the iconic phone hasn't always been so sleek and glassy, we take a look at the iPhone through the ages.

Starting with the iPhone time forgot, a 2005 co-operation between Apple and Motorola, then the revolution of the first one in 2007, the darker glossy plastic of the 3G in 2008, the curvy dark 3Gs in 2009 to the iPhone 4 in 2010.

I know dogs aren't gadgets, but if they were, they would be the best gadgets ever. They have a fantastic user interface - fur! are way more responsive than the most sensitive touchscreen (can iPhones gurgle?) and adapt to individual users and users different moods over time. Incredible. Okay, so they poop.

Dogs are also involved in my favourite story of the week - about how dog fur and human hair are being used to prevent the Gulf of Mexico oil slick spreading. So apparently it soaks up oil really well. According to this story, dog salons are sending bags and bags of shorn fur off to the people who make these hair booms specifically for oil spills.

And apart from being loving companions and donating their chopped off fur to help us with our ecological disasters, dogs do lots of surprising stuff for humans. A quick trawl through the internetz turns up some wonders. I just thought I'd celebrate.

Wonky stilts and jutting corners define some of 2010 best houses as chosen by the American Institute of Architects

Some are are a bit too similar to Frank Lloyd Wright for my liking (how many angular wooden houses are built next to brooks each year in America? must be loads..) but there are some beautiful and different ones out there too, shattering flat surfaces and creating some amazing spaces.

So here's a little architecture porn for those who enjoy it.

The Apple iPad promises to shake up the e-reader market. Suddenly there is a popular tablet style device that can serve as a great medium for magazines in all of their colour glory.

While still in its infancy, several very interesting magazines are available today on the device, with most taking advantage of the unique mechanics the device offers. One thing worth mentioning is that you can universally grab a screen shot of any content on the iPad and save it or share it later.

With the publishers responding with their own different offerings and approach, we check out which magazines are worth reading.

So Steve Jobs probably doesn't love him, but the internet is alllll over him. Him and his liking for German ale and his little slip-up with a prototype of the summer's most hyped gadget, whether it was lost or stolen.

So Gizmodo were not afraid of fingering the 27 year old Apple engineer by publishing two posts about him, one explaining how he lost the 4G iPhone and the other how kind of sneakily commiserating with him.

Anyway, the memes are coming thick and fast. See our gallery of five great memes...

T3 today released their hottest 100 gadgets of 2010. One of the real standout points about the list is quite how many tablet computers there are.

No less than eight have made the list. From the five inch Dell Mini 5 to the sumptuous Windows 7 running, British, X2 iTablet.

Whether these are impostors just trying to syphon some of the iPad's market share, or genuine attempts to build good tablet machines is a debate for another day. Today we'd just like to introduce you to the competitors.

I can't remember the last time I paid for an application or program -- disregarding mobile apps. Think about it, when did you last pay for native application?

Let's ignore games too, because they don't really count. What was it? Mine was iLife '09, which comes as a free suite on all new Macs anyway, before that, I can't remember buying anything.

Everything we need these days, that we used to rely on native apps for, like word processing or spreadsheets and arguably presentations can be done just as well in your browser.

So it's only really supplementary and really heavy going applications you need to harbour on hard drive.

With this in mind we've put together 10 of the best free apps going for Macs. (we'll have a Windows one coming next week.)

Bringing couture to the phone market, fashion phones cut a dash. Just like fashionable clothes aren't purely functional, fashion phones are more than just useful gadgets, they are beautiful objects in their own right.

Some of these handsets were made in collaboration with the big fashion houses, others are customisable and just one, the HTC Magic, I include because though it is primarily a high-specced Android phone it is one pretty little creature.

As much as we all enjoy endless hours waving virtual lighters and popping virtual bubble wrap, you'd be forgiven for wondering if there was something a bit more... err...constructive that you could do with your iPhone.

Well, by some miracle it looks like you weren't the only ones wondering. While you've been sipping your virtual pint at the virtual pub, some eco-conscious apps creators have been busy working on an array of green apps to help you help the planet.

Top 7 all-in-one desktop computers

Comments (1)

All-in-one PCs are, in my humble eyes, the indisputable future of home computing. Soon gone will be the days of the cumbersome tower.

The tower was necessary in the early days of home computing to house oversized hardware, and allow for easy DIY expansion; adding a wireless card, or new hard drive to a tower could be a right pain in bum. But nowadays people rarely need to expand their home computers. A firmer fundamental understanding of their needs and better standard hardware mean that only real hardcore techie-types are prying open their PCs to wodge in new motherboards and graphics cards.

All-in-ones are ace. Clean, approachable and tidy, they meld all the functionality of home PC use with a new world of touchscreens and integrated media management. That's why we've put together the seven best for you.

258 WeCanDoIt-FeministPoster.jpgBecause today is International Women's Day, we thought we'd look at some of the gadgets that have done their bit for women's liberation in the centuries past.

A lot of these are devices that reduce domestic labour. That's not because women are hardwired to appreciate dishwashers at the expense of fancier or bigger bits of hardware it's because women have been forced into doing domestic labour for centuries; so, devices which make those tasks more efficient and less time-consuming are device that have helped women or anyone forced into domestic labour. Currently women earn 10% of the world's income, yet work two-thirds of the world's working hours

Ultimately it is laws and social attitudes that liberate women and mean that work (whatever it is) gets shared equally, but these little gadgets have helped along the way.
