usb_Heart_Key_Lock.jpgFashion and tech have merged once again to create something wonderful for tech-loving ladies. This rather fetching device/fashion gem is from those purveyors of sparkly USB devices, Solid Alliance.

As far as USB sticks go, this one's in a shiny league of its own, and it has 2GB of memory to boot. It's even got a cute little key to lock away your precious data, which also prevents prying eyes from snooping in your stuff. It's hard to decide whether this would make a nice necklace or not. Sure it looks real pretty and its bedazzled with bling, but the folding heart might not look so good up close - I'm only speculating, I really have no idea. Either way, it will make a very nice looking accessory and will keep your data close to your heart.

fairy_lightsoffice.jpg

I hate to admit it, but my inner child squealed when I saw this picture. Fairy lights! Glowing! On my computer! It combines Christmas, work drinks and silly gadgets all in one, to leave you with an illuminated screen powered by USB. I think this would be a great way to add some personality to your workspace, and would definitely make you smile when you arrive at work in the morning.

snowflake-usb.jpgThis thumb drive is one of the most exquisite I've ever seen. Created by Cina out of laser sintered nylon, the drive measures 60 x 20 x 10 mm and is equipped with 4GB worth of memory. Sadly, there's no mention of cost so it could be a one-off piece of tech art.

Mobiu.JPGMobiu is a portable office solution from The Key Revolution, designed to give you the freedom to work anywhere and create a secure work environment from any online PC, this so called 'cloud computing' revolution.

It's a SIMAssured chip and pin device, which enables tamper-proof access to files, data and applications from any online computer running Window XP or Vista. Once unplugged, it leaves no traces behind - it would be like you were never there (which sounds quite unlawful). The main emphasis on this little device is how security safe it is, hence the leaving no trace element of it.

Robotic USB key will never be human

robot_usb.jpg
This USB drive has inspired feelings of melancholy in me that no other computer peripheral has ever inspired. Look at the robot - he looks like he's clasping his head in his hands, at a complete loss to understand these humans who keep behaving in ways that defy common sense and logic. He knows he'll never feel joy, pain, sadness or fear, and whilst he knows that makes scientific sense, he can't help but feel some inexplicable gap as a result.

*sob* (But isn't it pretty!)

Like computer peripherals? Me too!!

There's something about these ornate USB dives that just screams Xena to me. Maybe it's the over the top mixture of leather and Austrian crystal that gives me that impression, or I could just have spent my weekend watching re-runs on Living TV.

I quite like the embellished swirls and random gold sigils that adorn these 1 GB drives, even though I deplore them for their ostentation at the same time. They're created out of brass and stainless steel, so they should be able to withstand the most fearsome battles bumps in your bag and will be a great starting point for conversation, 'You paid how much for that?'

mini-hoodies.jpg

Now I'm a sucker for a pretty USB drive, so Mimobots have long since been firmly placed on my wish-list with their sweet removable heads and funky bodies providing both memory and amusement. Well it seems they've just released a Vicky Pollard selection of bots, complete with requisite hoodie and leering scowl. Entitled the protoHoodie collection, they feature a USB drive with its very own chavtastic accessories. Choose from Betty Lou, Owsley, the King and many more, all decked up in miniature sportswear. Bling, bling baby!

Snowboarding_usb.jpgIf you've ever tried your hand at snowboarding, you'll know how painfully difficult it is - often quite literally as well. Trying to show off those skilful moves often proves to be more hassle then they're worth, leaving you to believe they should be left to the experts.

I think Burton had this in mind when they created this snowboard USB stick, which provides a much more geek-friendly way to enjoy this extreme sport. The best thing about it, you don't even have to break a sweat (unless you're under some serious pressure to do some work perhaps).

Golf_mouse_pad.jpgThere's only so much doodling one can do in a day, so why not insert some variety into your desk-top antics. Try sinking a few practice shots Tiger Woods style (well not quite) while enjoying a 'break away from work' moment.

You don't need fancy clubs, garish attire and frustratingly bad swings to enjoy this USB golf ball mouse complete with putting green pad, a tiny putter, miniscule golf balls and even a flag. The optical mouse even lights up whenever the buttons are clicked.

Sony_USB.jpgWith *so* many USB sticks out there, it's hard to even garner a cheerful woohoo when someone releases another one (been there done that). Contrary to that (almost) is Sony's new MicroVault Click and Click Excellence. This new range of USBs boast advance performance and a neat 'click' design to retract the connector for swift and easy use.

The MicroVault Click, the smaller and lighter device, comes in a range of sizes from 2GB to 16GB. The Excellence range, slightly more expensive, has a capacity size of between 2MB and 8MB, and up to 31MB read and 11MB/s write times.

Blutrek_Bluetooth _headset.jpgIt's fair to say that some of us feel more than a bit weighted down with the amount of gadgetry we carry around on a daily basis. Obviously heavy weight doesn't really apply to carting around USB sticks and Bluetooth headsets. But that's in the literal sense. In the non-literal sense this might be a nuisance to some of you and yes, you might feel weighted down in a metaphorical sense.

You know when you go shopping and you start putting bags into other bags to get rid of the clutter, well, much like that little scenario, this is what the Bluetrek Bizz does. It gets rid of the need to carry around two devices - it's a USB drive and Bluetooth headset in one nifty little package.

pinnacle.jpgDo you like the idea of being able to record straight from your telly, camcorder, DVD player or VCR (hands up who still has one of these) and then transfer your files straight on to your iPod, PSP, hard drive or USB memory stick? If no, don't continue reading, there is nothing for you here. All those who felt a little bit of excitement bubble up inside of them, read on my friends, read on.

The Pinnacle PVT does exactly what I said it does, which is why you read on right? Record stuff straight from the TV and various other media devices (look above), and at the touch of a button transfer your files on to the USB device of your choice. You can even recharge your device's battery at the same time.

Jt baby.jpgAhhhh, it's soooo tiny and it's soooo cute. That's about it. This is the very fashionable bright and stylish simple Jt Baby USB Flash Drive.

It's this size for a very good reason. Attach it to your mobile or a set of keys, so it hangs like some sort of charm. All your data and important information can then go wherever you go (if you feel you need to be that close it). Or you could just put it in your bag like ordinary folk.

As it was National Secretaries Day this week (23rd), we've decided to pay homage to this appreciation/celebration of administrative duties carried out by secretaries worldwide (even though we're a day late). Take a look at our top ten list of office gadgetry, great for practicality, convenience and general all round silliness. All in the name of this unofficial holiday.

Mouse.jpg1. Vacuum Cleaner USB mouse
Fed up of those old McVities crumbs getting stuck to your hand as you're typing away? This desktop vacuum cleaner will suck those pesky crumbs right up. It will also clean all the gook that congregates between your keys and behind your monitor. Saying that, this is a reminder that I am in desperate need of one of these!

laserb.jpgI have to admit that I did pop into Sharper Image last time I was in the States, because it's one way to pretend that technology is still the domain of magical pixies with laser beams. Especially when it produces stuff like this laser beam music system, which is powered by USB. The W shape and laser beams mean you can use your hands or fingers to produce sound. With 30 original songs in 19 genres to choose from, you can use the six 'strings' to play pulses, streams, riffs and loops - a bit like those 80s synths, if you can cast your mind back that far. If the picture's anything to go by, however, you'll end up looking more Frankenstein's monster than Minority Report cop.

Looking like a laser zombie will cost you $599 from April 15th.

webcam missile launcher.jpgI admit it, it only took pizza (no alcohol! lots of water!) to turn my brain to mush this lunchtime. My thought have since inexorably turned to ways I could be quietly procrastinating if only a) I had the resources and b) it wasn't a Bad Thing To Do. Still, at least I can spend the time I am working encouraging you lot to annoy your colleagues and generally get nothing done.

pantone.jpgDesign geeks can show their love for Pantone colours in a variety of ways. There's the Pantone mug. There's even the geek tattoo. Or you could go for the USB stick. Pantone is offering fourteen different flash drives in capacities of 512MB to 4GB, ranging in price from $11 to $35 (£17). You can also add some personalised engraving and a company logo.

USB keys are everywhere in this office and yet when you need one you can never find one. One way to ensure that you never lose your key is to personalise it, and Pexagon offers you the option to do just that.

As you can see from my stunning design above, it's easy to do. Just choose a colour, capacity, optional theme and two line text. Then add to cart. Available in capacities from 512MB ($10.99) to 8GB ($64.99), the obvious use is promotional gifts but it might not make a bad present for a geeky pal. Just don't go overboard and make wedding favours or something, okay?

daimond-usb-flash-drive.jpgWhen you get to that stage between dating and engaged and you know a proposal is forthcoming, your thoughts turn to rings. Many a man takes the easier option and gets a cheap "filler" ring so that you can then choose a proper bit of bling together. For those men looking for an unusual temporary rock, here's a suitably gadgety suggestion...

Take one USB flash drive, add a Swarovski crystal and slip onto finger. Wait for "yes". Then bring two rings together to transfer back and forth the personal, romantic information you carry around about each other - pictures, poems, and other sickening stuff. You could even use the supplied necklace to go from ring to PC. Oh, alright, you can't actually do this yet, but perhaps the pictures of the concept will inspire you to enact a differently geeky proposal.
