iprints-2.jpgThere are all kinds of different gloves on the market at the moment that are specially designed to work with your smart phone, check out our three favourite touchscreen gloves list from earlier in the month.

However, if you don't want to buy a pair of brand new gloves and would rather use the ones you already have, then iPrints may be the answer.

iPrints can fit onto any existing pair of gloves (and can be easily removed without leaving any stickiness) allowing you to use capacitive touchscreens just as easily as if you were using your fingertips. Magic!

We kind of wish they came in a few different colours, because although the design may look good with a monochrome pair of gloves, anything brighter or more candy-coloured could look a little silly.

Available from iPrints for £6.

I'm sure most of us have had to walk around during winter time with freezing fingers as we text, read emails or make calls just because gloves are so soft and rubbish when it comes to operating touchscreens.

According to Tech Digest a new kind of touchscreen could be on the way which is specially designed to allow 'gloved' hand gestures, but until then there are a few different options available to ensure you can answer a call without getting frostbite.

Do you remember in teen flick classic Mean Girls when Cady turns up to the Halloween party and all of the other girls are dressed up as sexy cats and mice in stripper-esque lingerie?

Well, don't think that you have to succumb to the female Halloween whore trend this year, as we've collected together some costume ideas for your inner girl geek.

led-dresses.jpg

In the geek world we've come across all kinds of light-up fashion in the past, from sparkly LED LumiTops to jellyfish-like glowing dresses.

However, it's only over the past few years after the quirky sartorial choices of famous celebrities (we're looking at you Gaga) have become so popular that the LED dress has really taken centre stage.

Katy Perry has donned a number of creations by designers Cute Circuit to all kinds of events and award ceremonies and Lady Gaga squeezed herself into something that looked like an alien from the early Star Trek days.

But who rocks the LED look the best?

These days the job market is a hard thing. If you're already pimping yourself out on LinkedIn, Twitter, blogs and Facebook, you may want to consider the radical next step of printing your CV on a tee-shirt and wearing it out and about. We're not promising that you'll get a job, but you will at least have a t-shirt. And who knows what potential employers are standing behind you in Starbucks.

We saw this cunning Tee demo-ed out on DesignSpot and you can get it made by these guys BlackbirdTees

Um, given that we're approaching the freezing winter, you may want to get a coat printed with these details too - that's all anyone's likely to see for the next six months.

If you like wearing earrings that look like twisty bits of metal and have a penchant for designs with hidden messages then you may be interested in these earrings. The wire jewellry can say "I love you" or any other 30 second message you may be interested to record in them.

An interactive design student in Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, USA has made a way of bending wire using your voice. Speak into a microphone on her device and the little machine turns sound waves into movements that turn wheels that bend the wire. The resultant twisted bit of metal has a secret message encoded in it. But there's no way of hearing it back again, unfortunately. See the New Scientist video about it below

It all reminds us a lot of these guys who make fabric out of used tape cassette tape. Sort of arty, sort of strange.

I can't have written anything about Three Wolf Moon t-shirts in at least oh, several months, so it's definitely time to revisit this fashion classic and internet phenomenon. The meme lives! It is powerful and strong! Like a wolf! Like the wearer of the t-shirt! you get the gist :)

Here you go, five gems...

Twitter has spawned lots of great software clients, but the same can't be said for fashion products. It's fair to say that microblogging sites don't inspire good clothes. Someone has gone and made Twitter Text Tights, they look like what you can see above.

Based in part on Henry Holland's Wanna Party tights which used black text on a flesh coloured background, these come in two versions. One takes the text symbols used on Twitter: @ # ! ;) - among others - and sticks them on some tights. Another version says: "follow me" and includes the Twitter bird. Would you wear them?

Deep breath. You've just seen officially the best sofa-wear EVER, I'm not even interested in Slankets anymore. Called Sealpelts, made out of Icelandic wool and roughly the shape of a floppy baby-gro with a hood these are stitched in beautiful geometric patterns that somehow reference both new rave and traditional Nordic knitting at the same time.

I am so sold. Hell I'd wear these out and about if it weren't for the fact that it covers your shoes.

Designed by Icelander Vik Prjonsdottir, they cite a tragic fairytale of a fisherman and a seal as inspiration. Er, cute I guess.

If Iceland needs something to kickstart its economy again - surely these Icelandic wool adult-sized baby-gros are the killer product to do it.

It seems they are only stocked in Reykjavik and New York, unfortunately they're pricey too: $530.00 (£355) in the New York store Scandinavian grace, but much cheaper online $235.68 (w/o VAT) (£150) on Birkiland. Start saving for next Christmas now.

[At time of writing the website was loading really slowly - I think sealpelts might have gone viral]

Linux, the stripped-down computer operating system favoured by hardcore geeks and members of the leet-erati have just launched... their own merchandise store. Yes I think that makes us all very happy.

Is it an attempt to gain a wider fan-base? to give them a friendly accessible feeling? Or was the demand for this gear just so strong. Who knows?

They say: "The images on the T-shirts, mugs, hats, stickers and other items, some of which are designed by community members, invoke feelings of geek pride, freedom, fun, eccentricity, and originality."

We had to do a gallery, of course we did. This is a pretty momentuous day for geek chic.

253 wtf jeans.jpg

Some geeks with an eye for jeans design have created a new niche for geek jeans. Called WTF jeans, strapline "wear them FTW", they've caught the attention of the denim-wearing geekerati.

If there's anything to get geeks excited it's a limited sale. There's a version for the gents and ladies, in a similar loose style I'd call it "boyfriend jean" style. The turquoise stitching is a genuine "Twitter blue" and other noticeable feature are front pockets for easy gadget access.

It's all about easy-access gadgets:
"the perfect pair of jeans for people that don't go anywhere without their mobile phones and gadgets. When I put my iPhone in my pocket, I don't want to spend half an hour to take it out! The pockets of WTFJeans? Gadget-friendly! Isn't that just l33t? ;)"

Unfortunately these aren't available with a iPad friendly pocket. We're waiting...

Set up by a geeky couple in France, they are pretty stunned by the success. From their blog:

"We are just a simple internet-addicted couple who wanted to make just a 2 pairs of jeans for ourselves, and after a few friends said they'd like a pair too, we decided to make a web shop and try to sell 1000 pairs of it. We have never expected anything like this to happen! :)."

If Google made t-shirts, is this what they'd look like?

134 google tshirt.jpg

Well they might do, three fashion pieces inspired by Google are currently on limited sale in the the Google store. The pieces are by young designers who are finalists in the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund competition sponsored by the search engine.

The t-shirt above is by Gary Graham and is described as a Deconstructed peace "vintage" inspired t-shirt.

I like the search inspired magnifying diamond pendant from a designer called Waris, and there's also a multi-yarn knit cardigan and scarf in Google's signature colours by Ohne Titel.

The scarf I don't think is trying very hard, it seems like the designer just looked at the google logo and noticed the colour scheme. What about basing a scarf around gmail eh? That would have to be the most amazing scarf ever, but I do concede it would be very difficult to conceptualise. I imagine fashion designers would probably rather theme clothes around water or romanticism or something.

Anyway interesting pieces.

Below is the search-inspired magnifying diamond pendant from Waris:

And this is the multiknit scarf:

Available for purchase from the Google Store

Tshirt $85
Necklace $200

Weird invention of the week goes to the carbon-dioxide sensitive Corset, the C02rset.

Not only is this hook-and-eye corset sensitive to C02, it's also gonna make darn sure that you're pretty sensitive to C02 too after you've worn it, because as carbon dioxide levels in the air increase, tiny motors draw the laces in, tightening the corset.. Making it MORE DIFFICULT TO BREATHE. Like carbon dioxide does.. you see. The C02 sensors are sewn onto the front in an embroidery pattern.

This eco-conscious S&M piece is not part of a new range in Topshop but is in fact the creation of Kristin O'Friel, a student at NYU ITP, a New York art school, who made it as a school project last Spring.

It also optionally has a visual indicator on a jacket, shape changing ornaments or light-up patches to warn you about the C02 levels before you become so squished and breathless you can't move.

See women and a man getting squished by the C0rset on Flickr

Doesn't Batman get chilly when it's mid-November, there's a cold breeze blowing and he's only got skin-tight lyrca between his bulging muscles and the outside world?

Well, now thank god he doesn't have to. Finally someone has knitted practical acrylic versions of the most popular superhero outfits. This means that superheros and you, the average fangirl/boy can channel superhero chic while keeping warm.

The knitter in question is artist Mark Newport who has hand-knitted versions of famous and no so famous one-piece outfits.

These woolly onesies may not yet be commercially available, but here's how to get in contact with Mark Newport so why not asking him very nicely to make you one.
We have selected five of Mr Newport's finest acrylic knitted creations.

mulberry and Apple.jpgGadget girls who love their fashion will be as thrilled as we are with the latest Apple announcement.

The technology company, which launched a range of products this week, has also been busy in the fashion wings.

It's teamed up with handbag favourite Mulberry to create a collection of sleek and stylish bags, especially to hold Apple's best bits. This includes the MacBook, MacBook Pro, iPod, iPhone and iPod Nano.

We can't wait to get our hands on one of the nine pieces of the collection, which are basically Apple flavoured twists on the classic Mulberry collection.

For example, Mulberry's classic Bayswater bag, has been given the Apple facelift through added padding to protect a laptop, and has eyelet holes for easy headphone access.

We know Mulberry doesn't come cheap but, as the collection comes out on 1 December, we think it may well be worth putting this on top of the Christmas list.

141 geek pyjamas.jpgHello, geek pyjamas!

I saw these beautiful (men's) pyjamas on buzzbishop and immediately fell into a state of heart with them.

In black with white mathematical drawings, they're at the cerebral end of geek pyjamas. Buzzbishop says they're available from Gap but I have been through the mens sleepwear section of gap.com yet tragically failed to find them. Maybe they're not on the website :( [Anyone got a link? Stick it in the comments...]

However, geek pyjamas (or pajamas, depending how you spell it) that we could find that are available online include:

At Hallowe'en, normal people dress up as things that scare them - ghosts, gremlins, vampires and suchlike. Geeks are creatures of a different order, yet we too get scared.
Where common folk fear the undead and other such irrational hoo-ha, geeks suffer real and deep-seated terrors too, but about much more terrifying things: Trojans and the lack of internet connection for example.

With some slightly dodgy photoshop effects, we give you the Top Ten Geek Hallowe'en costumes - of Things that Geeks Fear.

105 chain BallFitter_04_640x.jpgAh Hallowe'en. The time when wearing weird things is considered normal. Gadgeteers Brando are offering a few trinkets to help you up your game this Hallowe'en party.

Referencing the Japanese teen trend for Cosplay... which in case you didn't know is dressing-up mixed with role-play and made into an art-form (see Wikipedia here)... Brando have released some easy-to-wear leg shackle-balls.

From the obvious to the weird, we pick out the internet's best gadgets and geek chic shops.

1. Amazon
www.amazon.co.uk
Good for: home entertainment, cameras, personal computing
Pros: has the retail system, reliable, wide choice, compiles different sellers
Cons: it's a marketplace - not all sellers are necessarily reliable.
One of online retail's biggest players, Amazon does a lot of consumer electronics. Always somewhere to check if you're making a big purchase.
