Doesn't Batman get chilly when it's mid-November, there's a cold breeze blowing and he's only got skin-tight lyrca between his bulging muscles and the outside world?

Well, now thank god he doesn't have to. Finally someone has knitted practical acrylic versions of the most popular superhero outfits. This means that superheros and you, the average fangirl/boy can channel superhero chic while keeping warm.

The knitter in question is artist Mark Newport who has hand-knitted versions of famous and no so famous one-piece outfits.

These woolly onesies may not yet be commercially available, but here's how to get in contact with Mark Newport so why not asking him very nicely to make you one.
We have selected five of Mr Newport's finest acrylic knitted creations.

mulberry and Apple.jpgGadget girls who love their fashion will be as thrilled as we are with the latest Apple announcement.

The technology company, which launched a range of products this week, has also been busy in the fashion wings.

It's teamed up with handbag favourite Mulberry to create a collection of sleek and stylish bags, especially to hold Apple's best bits. This includes the MacBook, MacBook Pro, iPod, iPhone and iPod Nano.

We can't wait to get our hands on one of the nine pieces of the collection, which are basically Apple flavoured twists on the classic Mulberry collection.

For example, Mulberry's classic Bayswater bag, has been given the Apple facelift through added padding to protect a laptop, and has eyelet holes for easy headphone access.

We know Mulberry doesn't come cheap but, as the collection comes out on 1 December, we think it may well be worth putting this on top of the Christmas list.

Geek pyjamas: cute yet cerebral

141 geek pyjamas.jpgHello, geek pyjamas!

I saw these beautiful (men's) pyjamas on buzzbishop and immediately fell into a state of heart with them.

In black with white mathematical drawings, they're at the cerebral end of geek pyjamas. Buzzbishop says they're available from Gap but I have been through the mens sleepwear section of gap.com yet tragically failed to find them. Maybe they're not on the website :( [Anyone got a link? Stick it in the comments...]

However, geek pyjamas (or pajamas, depending how you spell it) that we could find that are available online include:

Top Ten Hallowe'en costumes for Geeks

Comments (2)

At Hallowe'en, normal people dress up as things that scare them - ghosts, gremlins, vampires and suchlike. Geeks are creatures of a different order, yet we too get scared.
Where common folk fear the undead and other such irrational hoo-ha, geeks suffer real and deep-seated terrors too, but about much more terrifying things: Trojans and the lack of internet connection for example.

With some slightly dodgy photoshop effects, we give you the Top Ten Geek Hallowe'en costumes - of Things that Geeks Fear.

105 chain BallFitter_04_640x.jpgAh Hallowe'en. The time when wearing weird things is considered normal. Gadgeteers Brando are offering a few trinkets to help you up your game this Hallowe'en party.

Referencing the Japanese teen trend for Cosplay... which in case you didn't know is dressing-up mixed with role-play and made into an art-form (see Wikipedia here)... Brando have released some easy-to-wear leg shackle-balls.

From the obvious to the weird, we pick out the internet's best gadgets and geek chic shops.

1. Amazon
www.amazon.co.uk
Good for: home entertainment, cameras, personal computing
Pros: has the retail system, reliable, wide choice, compiles different sellers
Cons: it's a marketplace - not all sellers are necessarily reliable.
One of online retail's biggest players, Amazon does a lot of consumer electronics. Always somewhere to check if you're making a big purchase.

Metal Detecting Sandals for beachy hi-jinx

Comments (0)

mneral sandals.jpg

Whilst these shoes are no Havianas they doe serve an Indiana Jones-esque purpose of allowing you to discover buried trash dirty cans treasure as you pad along the beach. Cleverly hidden in the right sandal is a copper coil, which attaches to a battery pack strapped to your right leg. The ring creates a magnetic field around the sole of the shoe, and when you pass over something metallic (within a 2 foot radius) the field is disrupted and the battery pack vibrates and flashes red. Now you can go dig up whatever exciting thing is underfoot- making you the Nancy Drew of beach trash/lost wedding rings.

It works off a 9 volt battery, and is sure to look extremely stylish when teemed with that itsy bitsy bikini.

Some people have too much time on their hands, but what with the recession, it's slightly more understandable.

Learn how to make your own Mario mushroom burger here..

I can't decide if this is genius or grotesque, but it would certainly show off your geek credentials.

RSS pillow for those addicted to feeds

Elle Symonds writes...

For the blog addicts among us, the RSS feed icon is obviously a familiar sight. If you didn't dream of it already, then now you can, courtesy of Craftsquatch at Esty. The RSS pillow is made of fleece, allowing you to drift of to sleep...well, thinking of the internet. Personally I wouldn't mind snapping up one of these for $14.99, but surely something to cure my net addiction would be better? Any ideas?

If you're not fond of the symbol in its famous orange hue, you can message Craftsquatch to request another. To view the item and more geeky bedroom decor, head over to Handmade Geekery.

ALBANO_red_TN.jpg

The sun is poking its head out from behind a veil of clouds, and its time for us girls to get our geek on with some stylish yet funky looking sunnies. I'm loving this retro style from Giant Vintage and think the red frames are the perfect accompaniment to a long bout of Street Fighter in the lounge. If they don't float your boat there are also a variety of exciting styles on offer, for you to choose from.

pratesi_guitar_backpack_mp3.jpg

Whether you're a rocker at heart or not, you can't deny this guitar backpack is pretty damn cool and looks realistic to boot. Perfect for musos who can't bear to be apart from their guitar when going about their everyday activities, this bag will help to give that similar guitar-on-back feeling but erm, with the added benefit of actually being able to carry things in it as well (always a good thing to have in a bag).

What makes a cool bag even cooler (in my opinion anyway), is the included jack for you to connect up your MP3 player - meaning you can roam the streets or lay down in the park with your beats never too far away. The actual bag is made from vegetable-dyed calf leather (lovely) and is available in either black or brown. It's $398 from Forzieri.

watchmen gibbons.jpg

Intel is sponsoring the Digital Artist awards, and who better than to run their masterclass in the art of drawing comics than the delightful Dave Gibbons from Watchmen fame. I was lucky enough to get the chance to attend a session with him, and grabbed some alone time with the man himself afterwards.

In person he's surprisingly easy to talk to, and though I may have come across as a slightly addled fan, we managed to talk through his favourite comics, how technology advances aid his work nowadays, and of course, his relationship with Alan Moore...

hatsolar.jpg

Yes, seriously. OK, the Australian looking child and matching hat aren't included, but $10 will get you a clip on solar fan that can be attached to your favourite baseball cap/trilby/turban.

It uses a mini photovaltic panel to power the mini fan, and should keep you slightly cooler- though your blushes may counteract that!

Geek Chic of the Week: Star Trek Phaser

STAR TREK~Phaser~hr~PM61851.jpg

Perhaps it's the fact that I'm going to see Star Trek tonight, but I find myself very drawn to related gadgets today. Sure this electronic phaser is no Ponn Farr perfume, but it's still pretty darn cool. I've probably left it slightly too late to go dressed as a Klingon, but this Starfleet style phaser would definitely get me in the mood.

It's a replica of the famous phaser, and has stun and vaporize settings as well as a variety of lights and sounds to facilitate that role play...

rubik_cubeblind.jpg

Despite my geek credentials I must admit to never having managed to complete a Rubik's cube. I've struggled many hours with one, and the only way I've ever managed to make the colours line up is by cheating.

Just because you have poor vision is no reason not get involved with the nefarious cube, so a clever bod has come up with a novel way for the blind to play, They've created a cube which is made up of a bunch of different materials; wood, textile, rubber, plastic and stone. Each side now feels unique, and means people who are lacking vision can now get frustrated enjoy the cube.
