Nokia’s Here maps is finally available on all Android devices

Nokia’s Here maps is an app that first came to Android devices as a Samsung Galaxy exclusive back in October, and it was announced yesterday that the app is now available on the Google Play store for all Android users to enjoy.

Here has everything you’d want from a mapping app: public transport information, local points of interest, turn-by-turn directions, route planning (on and offline), and it even has live traffic reports so you can see if your route is experiencing any sort of delay.

Here has, of course, been available on Windows Phone for quite some time, and this expanded Android release means that the only people left out at the moment are iOS users. Luckily for them, the folks in charge of Here have said that there are plans to bring Here to iOS in “early 2015”.

The Verge notes that this should be a priority because, unlike Android phones, iOS devices do not come with Google Maps pre-installed. Instead they come with Apple Maps which doesn’t quite have the same strong reputation.

But for now, Android users should be happy. They have another strong alternative to Google Maps if they don’t want to be using the search giant’s services. You can download it here.
