16 of the best ankle boots

[nextpage title=”Next”]

Having gone through a period of denial, going out wearing sandals in rain, which has led to us getting a cold, we’ve finally accepted that it’s autumn, and, as well as a coat, we’re going to need a new pair of boots, specifically of the ankle variety.

It’s good to get your hands on ankle boots early, so you can get as much wear out of them as possible. From simple Chelsea boots to chunkier pairs, here are some of our favourites on the high street right now.

ankle-boots

1) New Look

We love the berry colour of these leather boots, making them seem that little bit more unique than the bog standard black and brown boots out there – although these boots do come in those colours too!

The buckle detail on the side of the boots adds something extra too. We think these would look great with jeans and a big knitted jumper.

Get yours from New Look for £39.99.

2) ASOS

Chelsea boots never go out of fashion, and these brown ones are really cute, and are light enough that they could be worn in the summer with a floaty dress, as well as with jeans or tights when it gets colder.

Get yours from ASOS for £40.

misskg

3) Miss KG at Kurt Geiger

These Miss KG boots may be simple, but we really like that about them, especially the buckle detail at the back.

Also available in tan, these boots will go with absolutely any outfit you pair them with.

Get yours from Miss KG at Kurt Geiger for £75.

shellys

4) Shellys London

Chelsea boots with a difference; these Shellys boots are a great burgundy colour, and the double strapped buckle is so cool.

We can imagine wearing these with black jeans, and a monochrome buttoned-up shirt for that ultimate mod look. Throw on a big coat and you’re done!

Get yours from ASOS for £90.

riverisland

5) River Island

Another pair of tanned Chelsea boots; we like these River Island ones for the gold metal detailing on the heel. This is definitely another pair of boots for those tricky season-transitioning outfits.

Get yours from River Island for £38.

hm

6) H&M

These imitation leather boots look so much like the ones everyone was wearing from Office last year, that it would be rude not to get them when they’re this cheap!

With studs at the front, decorative straps with metal buckles, and a zip in the side, there’s so much detail on these boots that it just seems crazy that they’re from H&M.

Get yours from H&M for £29.99.

office

7) Office

While we do love our dainty little Chelsea boots, we’re partial to a chunky biker boot too, and this pair from Office are one of our favourites. The strap and buckle detailing looks great, and that added bit of heel is amazing for giving you that extra bit of height, which, at 5”1, I need.

Get yours from Office for the sale price of £48 (originally £80).

Yes, we love burgundy boots, sorry! These mini-heeled ones are so good-looking with their half-suede half-leather look.

warehouse
9) Warehouse

These apparently grey but definitely beige boots are a colour we’ve never even considered choosing for our boots, but we really love them!

The buckle detail and the pointed toe give the boots a bit of a rock edge too. Get yours from Warehouse for the sale price of £45.

zara

10) Zara

We can always rely on Zara to give us some great shoes, and these zippy (is that a word?) biker boots don’t let us down.

They’ll be able to toughen up any girly outfit, or just be thrown on with a pair of jeans and make sure your feet are kept warm.

Get yours from Zara for £69.99.

hobbs
11) Hobbs

Hobbs isn’t usually the first place we’d go to for shoes, but these tan lace-up boots, while, yes, very practical looking, caught our eye, and would go with any outfit.

Although these are the priciest pair of boots on our list, the tan colour is great for wearing with bare legs for when it gets a bit warmer too, so you’ll definitely get your moneys worth.

Get yours from Hobbs for £109.

newlook2

12) New Look

These chunky Chelsea boots are one of the best pairs of ankle boots we’ve seen. We love the way they give that bit of height, and toughen up even the girliest of looks – the image on the New Look website is really making us want a set of trouser co-ords, but we’re thinking we couldn’t pull it off quite like the model.

What’s great about these boots is that they can be worn night and day, so you can go from the office to drinks fuss-free.

Get yours from New Look for £24.99.

asos2

13) ASOS

The gold heel on these little black ankle boots is what makes them stand out, and makes us love them.

Wear them out for drinks, and dress up those jeans easily.

Get yours from ASOS for £42.

office1
14) Office

We love these boots for mixing two of our favourite types of shoe – the brogue and the Chelsea boot. The brogue detailing on these brown boots make these what-could-look manly shoes look really feminine.

Beware though, Office do sell the same shoe for men, so you may find your boyfriend co-ordinating with you.

Get yours from Office for £80.

kurtgeiger
15) Kurt Geiger

These suede tasselled boots are great for wearing in the summer as well as the winter, due to their light colour and cowboy feel.

The shoes come in black, but we prefer them in taupe. Get yourself a pair from Kurt Geiger for £85.
