Microsoft is rebranding its Bing apps as MSN

MSN almost died a death when Microsoft went ahead and introduced Bing to the world, it was Bing this, Bing that, and of course the selection of Bing apps that a lot of people would say mean things about. Well it turns out that MSN is making a comeback, and Bing is fading a little bit further into obscurity that that Microsoft is rebranding its Bing apps under the MSN moniker.

Presumably the Bing search engine will remain the same, but apps like News, Sports, Travel, Weather, and the like will be re-released on iOS and Android under their respective new names. It’s a bit of a surprise considering Microsoft has been moving away from MSN, in favour of Windows Live and Bing, over the past few years but MSN does have that brand recognition thanks to the ever-popular MSN messenger from back in the day.

There’s no word from Microsoft about when this rebranding will happen, but there is a preview version of the new MSN homepage which has already gone live. [Microsoft via The Verge]
