You can wander around the pyramids on Google Street View

There’s nothing better than seeing great things up close and personally, but if you can’t (or won’t) take a trip to Egypt to see the Pyramids you can settle for the next best thing: Google Street View.

Included in the virtual tour is the famous Great Pyramid, the Sphinx, and Imhotep’s Pyramid of Djoser. Google has also included a host of extras including Mena Christian site, the medieval Cairo Citadel fortification and other famous landmarks around the country. But that’s not all, you can also head over to Google’s Egyptian Pyramids gallery to see archived photos and drawings of the sites.

So if you’ve got a few hours to kill, and a fascination with the ancient world, then you might as well get onto Google Maps and wander around in awe. [Google via Engadget]
