You can add items to your Amazon Wish List by tweeting

Earlier this year Amazon revealed that by using the hashtag #AmazonBasket, you’d be able to add items to your Amazon shopping cart directly from Twitter. Now that is being expanded with the #AmazonWishList hashtag which lets you add items to your Wish List with a single tweet.

All you have to do is ensure that your Amazon and Twitter accounts are linked (this isn’t magic after all), use the hashtag on an item you want, and it’ll appear in your Wish List as if by sort-of magic. Is it going to stop people from shopping directly from Amazon? Probably not, but it’s a nice bit of publicity.

Twitter itself is becoming a larger e-commerce platform all the time. Earlier this year the social network implemented a ‘Buy’ button which would let you buy products from certain brands and retailers through the service. This could be seen as a looming threat by Amazon, hence the expansion of Twitter services, but it’s likely that the company just wants to make it easier for people to get hold of what they want as soon as possible.

Will you be using the new hashtag? Don’t be so quick to say no, Christmas is coming and you might want a way to quickly add those items in your Twitter feed to a list pretty quickly.
