Apple rumours: No RAM Upgrade, more on the USB cable, sapphire glass comes up yet again

Those Apple rumours just keep coming, especially coming up to the iPhone 6′s rumoured launch window, and keeping up with them all is proving to be a difficult task. To keep you up to speed, here is today’s round-up of the biggest Apple rumours and news.

1. Unbelievable rumour of the day: the iPhone 6 might not have a RAM upgrade

If the rumours are to be believed then the iPhone 6 will not have any more RAM than the iPhone 5S’s 1GB. That’s according to Chinese web forum Weibo  which has posted what is supposed to be a copy of the iPhone 6’s schematics. Should you be worried about this? Probably not. Some of the iPhone 6’s rumoured hardware might be a bit low compared to the competition (like the 4.7-inch’s rumoured 1,810 mAh battery), but considering most phones are now throwing in two or even three GB of RAM it’s unlikely that Apple is stupid enough to leave such a small amount of RAM in their flagship handset.

We’ve officially reached that point folks, the rumour mill has run out of things to speculate about so they appear to be making things up. [Weibo via BGR]

2. More details seem to confirm the reversible USB cable

Something a little more believable now, pictures have emerged that claim to confirm Apple is going to be including the reversible USB cable with the iPhone 6. uSwitch has posted a gallery of what is said to be the retail box for Apple’s new cable alongside new pictures of the cable itself. The box art doesn’t show off anything about the cable being reversible, in fact it looks exactly the same as the box for the current lightning cables.

So maybe it’s not confirmed that the cable will be included with the iPhone 6, but the new pictures of the cable, along with patent details from 9to5Mac show that Apple is working on the tech, and it’s at least in the prototyping stage. Whether we see the cable at the iPhone 6’s launch (expected next month) is yet to be seen, and we’ll just have to wait. [uSwitch, 9to5Mac via BGR]

3. Analysts can’t seem to stop speculating about sapphire glass

That’s right, we’ve had another report from an analyst which casts doubt on whether sapphire glass will be included with the iPhone 6. I guarantee that within a week a different analyst will come out and claim that they have secret knowledge that proves sapphire glass will be included on the iPhone 6 in some shape or form.

Can we just stop with the rampant speculation? We’re not going to find out for sure until the phones are launched (probably next month), so we’ll find out fairly soon. [Slashgear]
