Samsung launches Galaxy S5 mini – UK launch this summer

Big, bit not totally unexpected news this morning as electronics giant Samsung today announced the release of a mini version of its flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S5.

Like previous mini versions of Galaxy phones the S5 mini keeps many of the features of its bigger and grander sibling but sports a titchy (!?) 4.5 inch HD screen, which incidentally is still bigger than the iPhone. Features include an 8 mega-pixel, high-resolution camera, Ultra Power Saving Mode, a heart-rate monitor and fingerprint scanner. It boasts a Quad Core 1.4 GHz processor and 1.5GM RAM and works on LTE (4G) networks.

According to Ines Van Gennip, Marketing Director at Samsung Electronics UK & Ireland, ‘if you’re someone who wants a stylish, smaller smartphone without having to compromise on the latest features and technology, then look no further than the Galaxy S5 mini.’

The Galaxy S5 mini will be available in Russia starting in early July with global markets to follow. Samsung UK will announce UK availability and colour variants in due course.
