Apple’s Q3 profits are in – and they’re impressive

Good news for Apple who today unveiled its earnings for its third quarter of 2014. With a profit of $7.7 billion it has far exceeded the $6.9 it reached last year at the same time. Revenue itself rose from $35.32 billion in the same period last year to $37.43 billion this year. Apple has sold 35.2 million iPhones, which is up from 31.2million last year.

However the company faces a more challenging few months. On the positive side there is new product, namely the iPhone 6 and possibly the iWatch coming in the Autumn.

At the same time though iPad sales are falling through the floor. They took quite a significant drop from 14.6 million sold last year to 13.3 million sold this year.

The jury appears to be out on the company’s future withe some analysts convinced that its dramatic growth is behind it, while others have high hopes for the new product.
