There are all kinds of reasons people don't purchase an iPad, maybe it's too expensive, maybe you can't justify it with that iPhone and iMac, maybe you don't trust your kids will look after it properly, maybe it's just far too satanic. Uh what?

No no, it's not a joke (we really REALLY hope it is), according to Jezebel online retailer Family Christian has decided to launch its own tablet packed full of moral, wholesome goodness, called Edifi.

Edifi (which totally sounds like a product that'll leave your toilet sparkling, right?) has tonnes of "family-friendly" features, no not ways for your children to learn all about the history of the world, other cultures and cool ways to connect with people across the globe, but the chance to have all kinds of good, clean fun with Christian-approved apps, Christian internet radio and the Family Christian reader app too.

Let's look past the fact this is actually being marketed as a "Family Christian Tablet" (again, is this real?) and ask what makes other tablets just so immoral and filthy that we needed a separate one?

I guess we should talk about the tablet's specs a little too, it's got a 7" touchscreen, has 8G of memory and full HD support, nope, we just can't....

PLEASE TELL US THIS DOESN'T ACTUALLY EXIST. PLEASE.

Are you kidding me? Your 10 year old will root the heaven out of it.

Actually, this is exactly what I've been looking for. Does anyone have any more information about it. Can it be used for Skype? Does it have an audiobook mode? I'll be checking this out soon.

Long ago, before most of you folks entered junior high, Apple came out with an ipod that had the entire U2 discography preloaded.  It was colored with U2 themes, or whatever, and had the bands names etched on the back, I think.  I don't remember people freaking out and saying Apple only wanted people to listen to U2.  It was a, you know, themed ipod.  Clearly these folks at Family Books, or whatever, are on to something.  How long before ESPN comes out with a themed tablet preloaded with sports related content and a year subscription to "special" web content?  In your quest to sound edgy and condescending, you kind of missed the big picture.  Do people still use "edgy?"  Anyway, an actual tech site pointed out that the tablet is made by Cydle, a real live, sinful, money making company.  Look at it this way, buy the $150 tablet, delete the Christian stuff and load your "devil" content if that's what you want.  Just stop trying so hard.

Your entitled to your opinion but i'm sorry I didnt see in any of the EDIFI ads proclaiming that the Ipod or any other electronic devices were satanic or of no educational or leisure value?  They simply seem to have released a tablet with a little more of a controlled moral base as another option when your shopping..They aren't forcing it on anyone or proclaiming it is the path to salvation.....in the end bottom line is its just another tablet in a sea of the like...again only dif really is the controlled moral base....i'm not quite sure why it offends you so deeply that a company released a product? Don't companies do this every day? You have made quite a few assumptions that really have no foundation when pit against the EDIFI ads.... I would have to say its like anything else... Don't knock it till you try it.... :)  then come back and give us a more informative rant ... Take Care
