Instagram finally comes to the web (kind of)

For as long as we can remember (OK a year or so) Instagram has been an iPhone-centric app, but recently it’s branched out onto Android handsets, rooted itself further into Facebook and it’s FINALLY come to the web. Well, just a little bit.

Now when you click on a friend’s Instagram photo you can like and comment on how fabulous it looks from the web. But that’s it, there’s no browsing or way to discover new photos. Some are complaining that Instagram’s step onto the web has been too small, but although there may be plans to add in more functionality in the future, we like that it’s still primarily on our mobiles. But hey, maybe that’s just us.

Another thing you can do online is edit your profile, when you’re looking at a photo just click your username in the top right hand corner. From here you can edit your info, change your password and even manage which apps have access to your Instagram account, which is pretty darn handy.

The design and colour scheme have both been tweaked a little bit too, goodbye sludgy brown, hello bright (Facebook-like) blue and lots of white space, you can stay.

To check out the new Instagram web layout, just click on one of your friends’ photos from Twitter or Facebook and go to the original. You can download Instagram from iTunes or Google Play.
