WIN: A Philips Wake-Up Light for brighter and happier mornings

philips-wake-up-light.jpgEven though it’s February and the days are slowly getting longer, many of us are still finding it difficult to get out of bed in the morning without pressing the snooze button for the 4,598,438th time. In order to make the waking up, getting up and starting the day ritual a little bit easier, one of our partner websites, Black Dog Tribe, has teamed up with Philips to give away a very popular Wake-up Light to two of the community’s supporters.

Philips’ range of Wake-up Lights has been specially designed to help those who suffer from Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), which is a medical condition known to reduce energy levels and possibly even cause depression in the long run as a result of light deficiency.

This latest model is both a lamp to help combat SAD and a traditional alarm clock, helping you to wake up in a peaceful and more natural way. The device’s ‘sunrise’ mode means that the light comes on gently around half an hour before you need to get up by and gradually increases its intensity until you wake up naturally, just like it would if the sun shone in through the curtains. If you’re still not awake during the sunrise period then the alarm will make sure you get up with your favourite tunes instead.

The Philips Wake-up Light retails for between £84.99 and £132.77, and you can find out more about it here.

To enter all you have to do is go to “Like” the Black Dog Tribe Facebook Page and tell the team in the comments who you would most like to wake up next to tomorrow, Valentine’s Day, 14th February.

The competition closes this Friday 17th February 2012 at 23:59, so you can still enter after Valentine’s Day!

Black Dog Tribe is one of Shiny Shiny’s partner sites. It’s a community where you can read more about mental health issues, blog about your personal experiences and join in on the conversation to break the stigma around mental health.
