Geek speak infiltrates everyday language

wtf.jpgOMG, according to the Post Office’s Telecoms branch, geek speak and techy slang terms are weaving their way into everyday life, confusing the hell out of people who aren’t in the know. This is apparently down to the limited space and need for speed when texting. So if I was to say, OMG, I am totally LAMP and can’t believe I made a RAB when attempting to go for that GOOD. I’m fed up of being Code 35 and that COS at reception didn’t help. I’d better keep my parents KPC BTW. Would you be able to interpret what the heck I’m on about?

If you’re up-to-date with the latest lingo on da street, you would have interpreted that as – Oh my god, I am totally losing money (Lost Another Million Pounds) and I can’t believe I made a massive Ross and Brand faux pas when attempting to go for that job that’d get me out of debt (GOOD). I’m fed up of being broke (Code 35) and that fat woman (COS) at reception didn’t help. I’d better keep my parents clueless by the way.

Confused? There’s no room for confusion when this kind of language is creeping into the English language. You don’t want to be left out do you? The only options are to get up to date with the latest slang, or simply put up a façade to mask you don’t know what on earth your mate is on about, and reply with a simple LOL – always a safe option.
