YouTube's gone widescreen on us

If you're a habitual YouTube visitor (so at least once a day), you must already be well aware of its transformation from small to widescreen. If you're not a YouTube obsessive, have a gander now - it looks pretty good. The switchover is a result of user feedback - "Over the years we've heard a lot of feedback from you about what you'd like to change about YouTube, and the size of our video player is always top of mind". Proving to the pessimist's that feedback can have an overall effect on the outcome of a service.

Although the player now uses widescreen aspect ratio, 4:3 aspect ratio videos will still play "just fine". So, YouTube has upped the ante by increasing the pixels from 425 to 960 to "better reflect the quality" of the masses upon masses of videos uploaded and the screens they're watched on. This leads me to the question - could 720p be next on the video sharing site's agenda? I sure hope so.

In the words of YouTube (and many many) "Bigger is better". Do you agree? Tell us what you think below.
