Naming and shaming is great isn't it? And the latest version of the Greenpeace guide to greener electronics is all about naming and shaming companies that have been kind to the environment and those that have given it the finger in favour of using environmentally unfriendly materials, power guzzling batteries and producing masses of non-biodegradable electronic waste. As you can see from the Greenpeace green-O-meter, Nintendo is by far the biggest offender (again) which only serves to echo commentary that's been made about the gaming giant in the past.
Nintendo's failure is threefold - e-waste, C02 emissions and a lack of clear targets. It's also nice to see Apple's made considerable progress, considering there was a time when it was at the end of the scale. But the removal of PVC and BFRs (Brominated Flame Retardants) from its iPod ensured it got itself out of that hole.
The greenest rated company of the lot is Nokia, grabbing the top title again and reigning supreme in recycling, energy efficiency and policy on toxic chemicals.

Philips spends a lot of time telling us how much they think about the environment, and yet here they are - right down near the bottom of the list.
