The Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 is a mighty fine handset. A little complicated to get the hang of, but a wonderful handset nonetheless. Sony Ericsson has just launched a range of exclusive panels for the multimedia handset, which will be music to the ears of social networking zealots who like a bit of Facebook on the move. Yep, you've guessed it, Sony Ericsson's teamed up with Facebook (they all succumb in the end) and also Microsoft Windows Live. These web-tastic panels will feature on the phone in addition to the X1's existing connectivity panel from Dashwire, which automatically mirrors your phone content to the web, helping you access, manage, and share your mobile experiences and adventures with a host of social networking sites.
The Facebook app makes full use of the X1's unique interface to bring you an X1 tailored version of the site and giving you access to more features with a simple touch. The X1 completely gives its users a completely different visual representation of friends' statuses. So it'll put the images of all your pals onto your phones desktop and bring up status details as you touch their images. Sony Ericsson's aim is to make the Xperia's new Facebook functions "easy to access" with "click to all capabilities" and by the sounds of it, it sounds pretty trouble-free.
The Windows Live panel is great for syncing existing Windows Live contacts and features to the phone and vice versa. The panel also gives users direct and easy access to a Microsoft messenger interface including the widely popular Hotmail and Live Messenger, oh and the Windows Live search function. Other Live services are expected to land in the Xperia X1 throughout the year.
The panels are free to download via the Sony Ericsson website or the X1's onboard downloader, which is where you'll find all the other Sony Ericsson and third party panels.
