Medion's latest sat nav packs 5-inch screen

medion-gopal-p5430-thumb-200x184.jpgA sat nav with a 5-inch screen is a long sighted person's dream. However, when it comes to its price tag (£175) the enthusiasm for the Medion GoPal P5430 may turn down a notch. But it is an impressive sat nav, so perhaps there's still time to sway and convince you it's a good piece of kit.

So what are you getting for all that cash? Firstly, it's all eyes on that 5-inch screen, wiping the floor with other models which offer measly screen sizes in comparison. I don't need to tell you how practical a 5-inch screen would be to your travels, so lets move on to its other features.

There's voice recognition and Bluetooth to take advantage of - so plenty of safe on the phone while driving action for you. There's also a fingerprint reader so no one other than you can reap its benefits, an integrated MP3 player, photo viewer and a Sudoko game to see you through gridlock. You have the choice to opt for arrow-based, 2D or 3D mapping, with a further split screen option that will look pretty impressive on that sizeable screen. Like to walk or cycle? The GoPal P5430 has you covered with pedestrian and cyclist modes.

So what do you think? Think its specs warrants such a high price tag? Well it's out at the end of the month, so you've got until then to make up your mind.

Hi do you know if the internal fm transmitter allows you to play mp3 tracks through the car radio or is it only the directions that come through? I have just bought the latest tomtom 930 and i am very disapointed with it, it has all these features and you can even record your own commands but it's £400 and frankly useless as it only has a 4 digit postcode search! does the medion have a full postcode search? if so i will put the tomtom on ebay and buy a medion, i had a cheaper medion unit but took it back as it didn't have many features and it didn't recognise where i lived but neither does this so called state of the art tomtom so I may well be going for medions latest model!

Hi Richie,

In response to your questions, the answer is yes to playing mp3 tracks through the internal FM transmitter and yes to a full postcode search. Sounds to me like you need to get a refund on the Tomtom 930 and get yourself one of these bad boys.
