Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer intentionally let a few things slip this week regarding the reinforcement of Microsoft software. When talking about the future of Windows in a recent interview, he said Zune software will be coming to Windows Mobile, and could possibly be integrated into the delayed Windows Mobile 7 operating system. Although he's stated we won't be getting a Zune handset, there are still a few hopefuls who believe it may still happen (Microsoft are entitled to change their minds right?). Instead, Zune's software and music store will feature on Windows Mobile and Windows itself instead.

Are they trying to steal the iPod's/iTunes thunder? Considering the iPod's days are numbered, they may very well succeed. And until Steve opens that mouth of his again, we'll have to patiently wait for the next instalment.
