We were told to look out for the official release for the LG Cookie this month, and it's finally here, but still no word on an official launch date or price. How else are we supposed to find out if the delectable sounding LG Cookie is bringing "the UK's most affordable" touchscreen handset to the masses? Past precedent has taught us that when a release rears its head, the product isn't far behind - so it shouldn't be too long now. What we do know - the Cookie will be available from the Carphone Warehouse.
LG understands a lot of you want to be a part of the touchscreen generation and want a touchscreen handset, but can't or don't necessarily want to fork out the big bucks for one either. This is where the Cookie steps in. It offers a decent range of features, including motion sensor games and an intuitive active flash user interface with haptic feedback. Just to reiterate those specs, it's got a 3-inch screen, a slide out QWERTY keyboard sorry, guys, no slide out keyboard, it turns out, 3 megapixel camera, FM radio, Bluetooth and an accelerometer. As well as all the above it records video at 12fps with a screen resolution of 230 x 240 and takes screen tapping into consideration by providing a stylus as well.

This is the only review I have seen that mentions a slide out qwerty keyboard, others mention a full on screen qwerty keyboard, have you made a mistake?
No keyboard on this phone. Sort if out. If you're going to get such basic facts wrong you may as well simply stick to cutting and pasting out of the official press release.
I LOVE this phone but all the launch dates seem to be wrong! Most of them say end of october but as we are already nicely into december i can't find out when it will be out. I know it's in the car phone ware house at the moment but where else??
The phone doesn't have a slide out querty keyboard no, but when texting, if you turn the phone on a side the keypad turns into an on-screen virtual querty keyboard.
Im geting this phone for ex-mas but all the shops seem to have the phone in black and no other colour , dose anyone know were i can get it in silver ? thanx for you help

whats an accelerometer
i have this phone, its great. relly easy to use and it hasnt crashed on me yet. the feature are simple and not complicated. texting keyboard is great as changes to qwerty depending which way you hold the phone. I would recomend this for anyone who wants a cool fun phone at a lower price. It is ezclusive to the carphone warehouse and only comes in black. I got mine on contract for £15 a month, `100 minutes and unlimited texts. but it is availible pay as you go for £99.99. love this so much all my friends think its really cool. It out now.

my boyfriend bought me this phone from carphone ware house,(£98 for phn only as i already had 02 sim an u still get £12 credit free! although takes a week to come thru) as a xmas present yesterday hehe but i couldnt wait for it so he caved in an gave it to me,i was soo looking forward to getting this phone an i am sooo happy with it i read all reviews on here an others, ive had no problems with phone what so ever the camera is quite good alot of people said it was rubbish(depends on wot kinda phone you had before i had samsung g600,also ive played around with the lg viewty an to be honest preferred this phone its lighter,slimmer an functions etc are pretty much same as the viewty.lg cookie phone is better lookin,my boyfriend loves it too he`s gonna get himself one!i never put the phone down at all yesterday its pretty easy to use overall, the qwerty board texting is little tricky to use if like me u dont have super slim fingers!!i was a bit dubious cos i txt alot and quite fast but this phone is great for that i had no problem i just used the keypad instead of the qwerty board or handwriting screen(which is quite cool/fun to use too)i`ve put videos on too which have come out good quality,pictures are good quality also,best phone ive had to be honest up to now,ive played around with new sony phones samsung,nokia an this phone is wicked value for money and looks fab!!for those of you who are gettin for xmas its defo worth the wait!!(lol unfortunately i couldnt!!)

I bought two of these phones for Xmas, one for myself and one for my son. Both phones continually crashed. I later found out from LG that there is a firmware problem,and that software updates to remedy this problem will not be available untill 2009.I took both phones back to carphone warehouse. After an hour of explaining to staff and customer services, i was eventually offered a refund. I then bought 2 LG Viewty, which are fantastic and have encountered no problems. Beware CARPHONE WAREHOUSE staff will try and palm you off with the Old (we will send it off to be repaired sir). How can you repair a phone that needs software,that doesnt exist. Stick to your guns,Demand a full refund they will eventually give in.
Great phone, but there are some problems with phone rebooting it self which is the Software version KP500AT_V10b i took it back the carphonewarehouse and swaped it for a new LG Cookie looks like they have fixed the problem but it does time to time restart still but not as much on software verversion KP500AT_V10c, great phone if you can put up with the restarts but im sure that it will be fixed very soon :)

I have this phone.. Well ive had it twice now, have had to get it replaced within in the first two weeks as the software needs to be updated and until that can happen, the phone will more than likely reset itself, and master reset when you turn it off and on.
If I were you, don't buy it from carphone warehouse as their service is very bad. I went in today to get it replaced and spent around half an hour pleading my case and they didn't tell me half of the things I needed to know and also lied about the exchange policy they have.

Its a good-ish phone.
3MP camera is not very good. Sure its got the resolution but the colours are not good - my old Nokia 2MP was much better.
Some silly issues with the software....
1) If a schedule reminder goes off when you`re not at the phone, there is no indication that you missed it.
2) When charging e.g. overnight, it decides to bleep when its fully charged (sometimes). Not good when on bedside cabinet.
3) You can`t change the schedule reminder tone. Sure you can change ring/message/alarm tone, but not calendar reminders.
4) Keylock is crap - it still goes off in a bag / pocket. There is a more secure handset lock but its 12 button presses on several screens to activate (including a keycode).
5) The whole thing seems to light up, just for a few seconds, at `threshold` times, e.g. on the 30 minute mark or on the o`clock, for no apparent reason, sometimes even when switched off.
6) Needs rebooting every couple of days, otherwise when you want to use certain functionality you get the `Max limit of applications running reached` message, even when you`re not running anything.
But you get what you pay for, and this is a cheap entry level touch-screen phone with great looks and a great sized screen for browsing.
Personally I just wish I`d spent a little more and gotten a better phone without the sillies above, and with wi-fi.

Don't get it. After having it for a month, I can't send or recieve texts, turns on and off and freezez. And more. Bad choice! Apparantly, the people in the shop said they ARE ALL likely to get a software bug! :( Rip off!
