Limited edition 1040 Olympus camera proves Swarovski crystals can't make everything dazzle

Olympus_limited_edition_1040 Crystal_Still (2).JPGIf you like a bit of glamour in your life and are known amongst friends as a bit of an extravagant kind of girl (or guy), it's more than likely your eyes will light up like a kid in a candy store at the sound of a digital camera with Swarovski elements. However, expect your attitude to change drastically upon glancing at this photographic eyesore. You'd expect something that sparkles to be somewhat attractive, pretty, eye catching etc. No! This camera is none of the above - and it's let the Swarovski name down immensely.

For a start, the Limited Edition Olympus 1040 Crystal camera looks like it belongs back in the 90s, and its sparkling element looks like something you could have concocted yourself with a bit of superglue and cheap sparklers bought from the local pound shop. Thank god the camera's packing some decent specs - at least it's not a complete disappointment.

If it wasn't for those 10 megapixels, 3x optical zoom, 30 fps shooting, TruePic III image processor and Auto Mode (detects whether you're trying to take a Macro shot or a portrait), this limited edition 1040 camera wouldn't be worth the effort.

The press release says the camera "will turn heads wherever it is taken", which sounds about right. People will turn their heads to avert their eyes from such an unsightly camera. Olympus, tut tut tut, we're used to better from you.
