The Macbook range got an overhaul last night, with the launch of the new 13-inch Macbook and the 15-inch Macbook Pro. And in true Apple style, there was a price cut, making a conversion to Mac more tempting than ever before. Can I get a 'Boom'?

So, what do you get?

The new Macbooks are made from one piece of aluminium. The 'unibody' (does anyone else start thinking leotards?) is more robust, thinner and lighter than previous housing. This is some how more environmentally friendly, which, when combined with the 30% less power sucked up by the display, makes it an eco-dream.

All the displays now feature LED backlighting, so there's less energy use and pretty awesome viewing. And, excellent news! It's arsenic free glass! Awesomeness.

Gamers will be happy with the inclusion of NVIDIA GeForce 9400M and the 9400M GT, which means they can switch between chips to either get better performance, or better battery life.

And then we get to Multi-Touch trackpad, which is one of the coolest things. That means you can control zooming and swishing with some clever finger pinching, in the same way you can with the iPhone. It's way bigger than previous trackpads - 40% bigger on the 15-inch model.

So, crucially, what's the damage in these credit crunch times? The Macbook Pro starts at 1399 pounds, whilst the Macbook starts at 719 pounds - 350 quid cheaper than the previous model.

Is it time to switch to a Mac?
