Uh oh, I smell hype. Not only are you able to create your own Spore character *ages* before the actual launch, you can now download the game, all ready to hit 'activate' on the forthcoming launch date.
If you're a user of EA Games quite frankly irritating piece of software, Download Manager, you can pre-order the game and download it. Then, on the 7th September, you can activate it and play it. Time saved? The 30 minutes it'll take you to nip out in your lunch hour to buy the disc.

You might be saving time by going this route, but if you buy using the EA Download Manager then you can only re-download the game for 6 months - after that you have to pay again. I strongly recommend you pick up a boxed version instead!
