This review is dope. Shows the nonsense gimmicky stuff. After she's done with the new nano craze all whats left and usefull is the genius stuff and a bigger capacity ipod. Well done review.

Anyone know if there is a docking station out there for the 4th generation Nano? It doesn't want to know any of the existing models.
Very sneaky of Apple to do that, especially if they haven't marketed a docking station for it at this time.

i too have this problem with my 4th gen nano. docking stations do not recognise the device. thought it was just mine that was faulty.

my husband bought me the new ipod back from america cant charge mine either, thought it was because it was bought from there, want to take it away with me to mexico looks like i have no chance why sell these things knowing people cant charge them, but only on there computer. thanks a lot apple. well stuck now.

so, i bought my 4th generation nano, tried my dock and it doesnt charge. tried my brothers dack, which is supposed to be one of those that are made specially for ipods, the circle dohnut looking one, and it doesnt charge on that either. plus, the battery dies in about an hour of just listening to music, not watching a movie or anything. so i am definetly taking it back and getting a new one, but if that one is the same, i am deffinetly sticking to my regualar blue nano and maybe spending the money i get back from the 4th gen. nano, on an ipod touch.

Thanks Jamie, my daughter has same problem, have tried on 3 different docking stations and guess what--- It just doesn't work!

STUPID APPLE. happens with mine too. we called them and they sed the only thing u can do is plug it into the computer. they made them like that. why the heck did they make a stupid move like that. newer versions of ipods are probably gnna be like that too. grr.. BUT my friend has a 4th gen nano and a docking station that works on it. i will ask her what type and get back to you all, :)

Those of you having trouble with docking stations charging- do any of them successfully PLAY music from the 4th gen nano when it is in the dock?

my new ipod is terrible.. dies in about two hours. and i got this new cd player that has an ipod doc, and is a radio as well at target, and that charges the ipod. and my old ihome does not. go figure.

well anyway, i bought a docking station and it works with my 4th generation ipod nano!!! YES!!!
its a sonashi a-109 docking station. only $70 AU. YAY! its white, and has a speaker on each side. it has touch sensitive snooze control that is a silver strip on it. it has a handle up the top. charges and plays ipods (except shuffles) and mp3s. also has radio and alarm.

I too have made the jump to a 4th gen Nano, and I am now in the same boat !!

£40 on a car charger/car player, which I love.
£80 on a home stereo docking station
£18 on a 240v ipod charger
£19 on a computer/usb docking station

all now collecting dust , what a waster of money ........

Disappointed ....... why did I ever trust Apple, I always said I wouldnt too, but was so happy with my 2nd gen Nano, I trusted them....lol, what a shame eh !!

My daughter got a 4th gen Nano for Christmas, and an ILive docking station. It won't charge the iPod either. But those of you who have Bose Soundocks, mine is almost 2 years old and it will charge the new Nano. Go figure.

Hi, my daughter's docking station will not charge her ipod either, but I have a clok clock radio docking station that I bought at Target about three months ago and it does work with that one.

I have bought my grand daughter 3 different docking stations for her Nano 4th genration and none of them will charge it. Can someone please help me. Radio Shack can't even find me one. Thanks and have a Happy New Year.

4th gen nano has changed the charging pin on the connector. Compatable with iphone chargers now. Apple did not notify . I bought im600 docking station from Altec Lansing from Radio Shack and it charges 4th gen(was on sale over Christmas for $59.00. Read box, if docking station has SFX Stereo Field Expander it will not charge 4th gen Nano. Unit must say ESS Expanded Sound Stage technology then it is compatible with 4th gen nano. Also the high end Bose Series II will charge Nano 4th gen.

I'd read that this problem existed with 4th gen nano after I'd bought one and was mightily disappointed. I thought I'd give Apple tech support a call for the official line and they confirmed the stuff about Firewire, however the woman that I spoke to said that it was likely that a software or firmware upgrade was imminent to reverse this issue.......who knows?

Ipod Nano doesnt work in any docking station i put it into, New or Old. Apple, dumb move! Right back it goes!!!

You can buy a usb power adapter (iwant) from Curries that charges the 4th generation i pod nano and has 4 fittings for different parts of the world. (British; European; American and Australian type fittings)

I got the new 4th Generation ipod and I'm happy with it after upgrading from the ipod shufle. My dad asked at the shop when buying my sound station would it work. and it does it's a new bose one. they also said they were gettin more in which were compatable for 4th generation. although i think apple are being stupid.

I was relived to discover that 4th Generation ipod can still be charged using a travel charger. This may solve a problem if you are thinking that you can only charge it by computer.

What apple did here -- not allowing the 4th generation nano to charge on essentially new docking stations -- is bs. It hurts their reputation and makes me think long and hard about buying another Apple product. Talk about planned obsolescence.

Anyone know if BOSE is working on a fix? I asked at my local Apple store and they could care less.

Dont get an ipod touch it wont charge on the docking station either
