Over the weekend, speculation about the details of a new 8 megapixel phone from Samsung progressed into those snippets of truth we like to call facts - facts we can now relay to you. The phone in question has been given the name Pixon or M8800. If this bears reference to something, I couldn't tell you what. What I can tell you is the Pixon is going to be a 3.2-inch full touchscreen, with the same TouchWiz interface as the Omnia (making it easier to customise and personalise the way you use your phone) but will also sport a Google and weather widget too.

To accompany those 8 megapixels is a dual LED flash, 16 x zoom, autofocus, face recognition, smile and blink detection, anti-shake and geotagging. Video capabilities are also on offer with the option to record in either WVGA (720 x 480) or VGA (640 x 480) resolutions. Spec-wise, we're looking at quad-band HSDPA, built-in GPS, accelerometer, FM radio with RDS, Bluetooth and a MicroSD slot. It doesn't sport a keyboard, instead a virtual QWERTY keyboard is provided. So it's not quite a smartphone, but if you're all about the touchscreen, the lack of a keyboard won't be an issue. Rather disappointingly, it also lacks WiFi.

Pricing details and a launch date are unknown right now, so expect more details soon.
