Nokia makes scribbling on the back of digital photos a thing of the future

Digital photography seems to have done away with the good ole' practice of scrawling photo details on the back of pictures - details such as who's in the pic, why Barry's doing that, location etc. But that could all be about to change thanks to phone guru Nokia. They're in the middle of developing a new technology that will allow us to make back-of-the-photo notage on our digital snaps (on a mobile or digital camera) by flipping over the image once it's been taken. And if you own a touchscreen/stylus enabled phone, you'll be able to scribble in your own handwriting too, bringing you as close to the real thing as possible.

As far as viewing the notes go, it's not clear how Nokia plans to do this. But the potential to be able to do so sure is exciting enough to produce a few squeals of excitement.

Digital photos are lacking this crucial feature that'll be sure to come in handy 20 years after the original snap was taken and you're desperately trying to point out family members you've met once or old friends you're no longer in contact with. Nokia has just filed the patent, so let's hope they get the go-ahead to make this a reality for avid photographers everywhere.

Hooray to Nokia and huzzah to posterity and the end of unidentified digital pics.
