The new iPod Nano might look familiar. You might mistake it for your second or even first gen. But wait! It does more! Loads more! And it's colourful! Really, really colourful!
Looks wise, that's a curved glass screen you can see. Looking at the Nano from above you can see it's a flattened oval - in fact, it's the thinnest iPod ever. And speecs wise, it's had a big refresh.
One of the cool things is the ability to create Genius playlists on the go.
Play a song, hold doown the middle button, and it will create a playlist of similar songs. This is something found on the new iTunes 8, but with this you don't have to be tethered to your computer.
There's also an accelerometer, which will automatically switch to landscape when you switch it. And in a move stolen from Sony Ericsson, they've got Shake to Shuffle, which does exactly what it says on the tin. Shake it, it shuffles.
Finally, there's a voice recorder, although you'll need to plug in your own mic, unless you get Apple's new headphones. More on those in another story.
There's a whole heaps of colours - purple, blue, yellow, green, orange, red, pink, silver, and black, in fact. 16GB will be $199/£149, 8GB $149/£109. They're both imminent in the US, and should be both shipping within the next 7 days. No news yet on whether it'll be the same in the UK.
