It's the battle of megapixels in the mobile phone world (despite the fact that a better lens and flash would be more important) and LG is squaring up to fight. The KC780 is rumoured to be the big player in their arena, with 8 megapixels, quad band GSM support and soft keys. The interesting thing is the high acclaim it's already receiving, despite NO definite specs or pricepoint. We can expect to see a TFT screen, 30fps video recording and EDGE connectivity, but that's fairly standard in a high end phone nowadays. What I find curious is that they've chosen to release details (or have them leaked, your call) of two VERY similar phones in quick succession. May I draw your attention to the LG Renoir, also called the KC910
When LG names their products rather than giving them a number it's a sure sign of quality (or money they'll put in the ad campaign) and details of the very similar looking Renoir don't disappoint. Once again we have an 8 megapixel camera, plus GPS, WiFi, 7.2Mbps HSDPA and Dolby Mobile.
They look remarkably similar, but seeing as the Renoir is currently planned to launch in the UK with the KC780 not on the UK's radar it already seems like the internal battle may have been won. Those who love LG's menu system will be impressed with these products, those who prefer other systems.. well Samsung and Sony Ericsson both have similar 8 megapixel offerings.
