Young girls love aping adults nowadays, imitating their clothing, coveting the latest mobiles and even having their own email accounts (more for show than use). The Smartberry seems like a natural progression for kids in this day and age.
It's a sliding Blackberry like unit which allows the user to personalize it to their preferences. You can add your favourite contacts, business cards, pictures and BLOOD TYPE. Yes, apparently in Japan that kind of information is worth saving about your friends- in case of a transfusion perhaps?
You also get emails- up to 64 letters so you had better be concise and picture messaging. It lets you enter chat rooms to talk your friends, and you can navigate your way around with a pink stylus. Considering this is aimed at 6-9 year olds, I'm not sure how comfortable I am about letting them into a virtual chat area, but hey, someone approved of this!
It weighs in a 112.3g and is 29.5mm thick, but I think the users are more interested in what fluffy character they can play with than the specs. There's a fortune telling game to enjoy, as well as quizzes.
