The Beijing Olympics marketing bonanza begins: The Olympic ring webcam

Lucy Hedges Tech

Beijing_olympics_webcam-300x225.jpgIt’s more than likely you were never going to fly out to Beijing for the Olympics (especially as only 25 percent of the tickets were available to the rest of the world). This might make up for it in a *very* small way, or simply serve to commemorate the beginning of this wonderful sports tournament. Even though it looks like a cheap piece of plastic tat (or a McDonald’s toy, which arguably is the same thing), it’s a webcam. The webcam features a 1.3 megapixel camera with LED lights in each of the rings. Bad news Mac users – it’s not compatible with your machinery, so you’ll be missing out on this remarkable piece of webcam machinery.

With the Beijing Olympics due to start next week, this probably isn’t the end of Olympic inspired tat gadgets produced by companies looking to cash in.
