When the words 'Fatman' and 'audio system' are used in the same sentence, it means you're in or a funky treat of valve-orientated speakers. The latest edition to join the Fatman clan is the rather tasty looking Red-i. Much like the majority of Fatman products, there is a lot more to the Red-i than just being an iPod dock. Audiophiles, should prepare themselves to drool over this one.
Based on the design of the first iTube, the Fatman iTube Red-i offers 25 watts per channel, claiming to provide rich, valve-geared sound with a "sonically matched" pair of stereo speakers.

Red-i provides you with two pairs of line-level inputs, so there is heaps of space to hook up your CD player and other external music devices. They've also thrown in a 3.5mm jack too, to connect to your digital music players, MP3 players and music-ready mobiles. Lastly, sticking your iPod into the built-in dock will give you full menu control via the Red-i remote.
The Red-i also gives preferential treatment to the iPhone and is one of the few products to meet Apple's 'Works with iPhone' programme. Apparently the Red-i is "one of the few music systems properly equipped for use with the Apple device", because it gets rid of TDMA noise - you know, that grating noise that results from putting your phone too close to an audio device.
The Fatman Red-i plans to give you only the best in music listening and with its mouth watering design, it makes great eye candy too. The Red-i will be available exclusively in the UK from Henley Designs in September for around £399.
