When the warning signs on your phone indicate a dead battery is imminent, or even worse, it dies completely, do you feel cut off from humanity and pretty much feel like it's the end of the world? Another common occurrence amongst phone fanatics is working yourself into a frenzied panic, while frantically searching for your phone in your bag/pockets/anywhere, only to realise it's lost... forever. Is this sounding familiar - does this describe you?
According to a recent study, major anxiety caused by lost or dead phones is a common occurrence amongst a vast majority of us. The men come in at just a little more stressed out than us girls, at 58 percent to 48 percent, while simply turning off their mobiles induces stress for 9 percent. These statistics are basically telling us we're a bunch of phone reliant mobile junkies, fixated on always being connected.
Phone phobia is obviously not that apparent amongst us Brits because we can't seem to switch off (I know I don't). Put it this way, when you get off a plane, is checking your phone one of the first, if not the first thing you do? According to a spokesman on slowing down in our tech-obsessed world, "Take it away and we panic and start suffering from withdrawal symptoms... there is a cultural taboo against the idea of being connected".
So, are you liable to panic if your phone runs out of battery or you're temporary offline? How addicted to your phone are you?
