Bounce to the beat with Dr Dre's headphones

drdre_headphones.jpgThis is a new one for me (and for Geek Sugar) - rap artists bringing out their own headphones. The rapper in question is the master of chronic, Dr Dre. So you get to bop your head to one of the greatest rappers of all time with the nicely named Beats headphones. Or if you're not a fan of the artist but totally love the headphones, I guess you're not obligated to listen to his tunes. According to Geek Sugar, the headphones are the equivalent of what a Bentley is in the car world, and for $350 USD, I should bloody well think so too. So, we've already established the headphones are luxurious and high quality, but what else?

Ok, Dr Dre got together with audio experts at Monster to create an advanced speaker design with a powerful digital amplifier. The aim is to create deep bass and enough clarity to bring you the high definition sound artists like Dre are used to hearing. Also thrown into the mix is isolation technology, to recreate the isolated music listening experience artists get in recording studios. They've also got comfy cushions for your ears, and a Monster iSoniTalk headphone cable with a built-in answer button and mic for use with the iPhone, Blackberry and other music based phones. Is it starting to sound more worth it yet (it won me over at 'deep bass and enough clarity...')?

The final cherry on top of the rather expensive cake, is the Beats also come nicely packaged in some Dr Dre-esque packaging. They're out on 25 July, when you'll be able to grab a pair from Apple.
