Sunday 15 June 2008 is the day we celebrate, honour and commemorate our dads/fathers/daddios/daddys (if you didn't know that I suggest you write it down). For a shameful majority, this often involves giving them pointless gifts they just won't use but will be really thankful for in an over-zealous kind of way (bless our dads). Well not this year, you hear me, not this year.

Of course, if your dad isn't a gadgety kind of man, this list is no good to you. However, if you're dad does like his stuff to have electricity pumping through its veins you should definitely check out this top five gadgets, designed to suit all budgets.

1. Sharp Shootin' TV Remote
Changing the TV channel can be an extremely cathartic experience. Especially with the amount of crap filing our screens on a daily basis, not to mention the high level of crappy adverts that always make you feel like you're waiting much longer than 3 minutes. Changing the channel will be a whole lot more entertaining with this sharp shooter. Your dad will be able to shoot the crap off the TV if you will, and use his non-harmful weapon to flick between channels. Give it to him at your discretion though. Don't complain when he starts pointing his remote control firearm at you, using cheesy lines such as, 'this sofa isn't big enough for the both of us'.

beer-chill-dispenser.jpg2. The Wunderbar Beer Chill Dispenser
A perfectly poured, beautifully crafted pint is very important to some men. I've even some admiring their pints before downing it because it really is an art for some. Does your dad fit this description? How convenient would it be for him to be able to pour his very own, well-crafted pint of beer rather than having to go down the local? Get him the Wunderbar Beer Chill Dispenser and he'll never need the pub again. Hook up your beverage of choice (using a 5 litre keg) and this self-cooling electric beer dispenser will deliver a pint to perfection. I'm sure your dad's seen it done loads of times, he knows what to do. It's even got a digital LED display to control its internal thermo cooling system - pretty impressive.

R2D2_Projector-thumb-350x300.jpg3. R2D2 Projector
I don't know a single person who doesn't love this famous droid and I think anyone would be happy to receive this unbelievably cool projector. Play DVDs, video games, view photos and listen to the radio or take advantage of the iPod docking station. It even comes with a cool remote control in the form of the Millennium Falcon and has realistic sound effects to boot.

gamcig_lg.jpg4. Gamucci Micro Electronic Cigarette
Any smoker will tell you how annoying the implementation of the smoking ban has been and will be for the foreseeable future. So to eradicate this huge burden on all smokers lives, the Gamucci cigarette has been developed. This electronic cigarette sticks two fingers up at the smoking ban and lets you enjoy a cheeky puff...indoors. This electronic ciggie looks like a menthol cigarette and it even gives the illusion of a real cigarette by lighting up at the end and producing vapour. But it's not actually a cigarette. It's still not good for you but will really do the trick when you want to have a smoke while indoors/on the tube/in a bar.

wifi_watch.jpg5. WiFi Watch
Is your dad a bit of a computer/internet loving geek? If so, he might appreciate this WiFi watch. It has all your basic watch features such as telling the time, a digital interface etc, and that's not all. It conspicuously tells you (and the world) the watch detects wireless internet connections too. The watch will demonstrate the signal strength of Wifi networks in the area, so will come in handy when searching for a connection on the move (do people do that?).

    hello fucker

  • Yeah! More naked ladies! After all, that's what daughters want to buy their daddies for fathers' day!

  • Well I like the gun remote! so I think it's a wonderful effort!

I also like the wi-fi watch.

O RLY? I see no half naked ladies, thats a poor effort. Also a universal remote control would be better than that pistol thingymajig control, that way instead of loosing many he can lose only one and the bitter disappointment that he gets when searching for the TV remote control and finding the DVD remote control won't happen but mostly, get more naked ladies.
