It's here, and its main aim is to beat the phone that could not be beaten - the iPhone. This new version has everything the rumourmongers promised, including 3G, in-built GPS and a price cut. It's hitting the UK by July 11th.

During Steve Jobs' keynote, he demonstrated data download speeds 2.8 times better than the previous 2G iPhone, and seemingly without a battery sacrifice. There's a 2G talktime of 10 hours, 5 to 6 hours of browsing, 7 hours of video and 24 hours of audio.

Looks wise, it boasts thinner edges, and a full plastic black back (much like the leaked photos). The 16 GB version will also come available in a white casing. Music to most people's ears is the fact that the earphone plug is now flush to the case, so there's no need to buy an adaptor should you want to dump the white earphones.

Although the UK won't see it on it's launch date today, it is likely to be one of the 22 countries it will be available in from July 11th. Again, UK costing is unconfirmed - there are rumours that it'll be free on O2. In the US, the 8GB version will be retailing for $199, whilst hte 16GB version will be $299.
