To add to HPs growing list of consumer notebooks, the HP Pavilion dv4, dv5 and dv7 were unveiled in Berlin last week, and what a lovely line of laptops they are as well. The notebooks come in three sizes, 14.1 (dv4), 15.4 (dv5) and 17-inches (dv7) and they all feature the same plush design complete with diagonal display. Decorated with a liquid metallic Mesh Imprint finish with 'magical chrome' touch controls that appear and become fully interactive at the touch of a finger, HP have really tried to make bling the new thing.

Apparently, they've been designed to catch your eye and as I've actually seen these beauties in the flesh (or metal), I can honestly say they totally do just that. Although, its shiny, mirror-esque finish might make you afraid to touch it and cover it in fingerprints, so no doubt you'll develop some kind of OCD disorder that has you wiping it down on the hour, every hour. I used the dv4 for a bit while in Berlin and fingerprints were minimal I must say. So don't worry, it's not as bad as it may seem.

All the laptops also feature one-click access to TV, photos, movies and music from almost any location. The HP Pavilion dv4 differs slightly from its siblings, as it's the first consumer notebook to include embedded WWAN (Wireless Wide Area Network) technology - 3G/UMTS/HSDPA. So you're provided with mobile wireless broadband when a wireless hotspot is nowhere to be found.

The HP Pavilion notebook series offers you the choice of the latest AMD and Intel processors and a high-speed eSATA interface to provide fast data transfer speeds for external storage devices. The line of notebooks also use built-in HP ProtectSmart Hard Drive Protection, which we've already seen in the mini 2133 notebook. Protectsmart technology essentially protects your laptops hard drive from being damaged if dropped or bashed about. It automatically stops the hard drive from spinning which helps to prevent the loss of all your files and data.

Other features include integrated TV tuner, Blu-ray optical drive, webcam and NVIDIA and ATI graphics.

The dv4 (pictured with me below) starts at €799, the dv5 starts at €699 and the dv7s starting price is also €799.
