Diamonds are a girls best friend

Gresso_white_diamond.jpgGresso are well-known for producing *very* high-end luxury phones. And by that, I mean phones that you and I will probably never own in this lifetime (unless you happen to find one). The release of the Diamond Collection, another set of luxury handsets, ensures this trait still lives on.

The latest effort from the Russian mobile makers sees the release of two new handsets - the Gresso White Diamonds and Gresso Royal White Diamonds. The words extravagant, sumptuous and plush spring to mind. It's not only the price tag that has me saying that. Both phones feature hand-assembled body panels made out of 200-year old African blackwood, with keyboards made out of titanium and a stainless steel battery cover with leather and gold décor.

The luxury doesn't end there, oh no. Both phones also have 42k sapphire crystal glass displays and 18k gold keys. Also, as a signature feature, all the numbers on the keypad are laser-cut in Roman style. I don't know what that means, but it sure sounds nice expensive.

Disappointingly, they only have a 2 megapixel camera, but also feature a tri-band GSM support, a 65K color TFT display QVGA resolution, a microSD memory card slot and run on Windows Mobile 6 Standard.

The Royal handset is more expensive (clue was in the word 'royal') and is limited edition. This means only 200 handsets will be available. So only 200 people will get their hands on a phone with a total of 2.53K white diamonds crowning all of its 23 gold keys. The White Diamond handset is not as lavish, but lavish nonetheless, with only the navigation keys encrusted with white diamonds. The handsets will set you back - *choke* - $52,000 USD for the Royal handset and $14,000 USD for the White Diamond handset.

The features are probably a bit too extravagant and would make any normal person rife with worry every time it's out of their sight. I don't know about you, but if I owned one of these phones I don't think I would be able to use it through fear of dropping/losing/scratching it, or letting it touch the outside air.
