I've raved before about my love of Tom Tom's and how they're so easy to use, so I was naturally happy to hear that their new and improved range the x30, has started shipping. It replaces the older x20 range, and has far more features. There are five models to choose from, equipped with everything from advanced lane guidance to maps of 35 countries. They all have Bluetooth connectivity for a stress free journey and you can also get up to the minute traffic information through the RDS-TMC traffic receiver.

You also get access to Tom Tom's latest jewel in their crown, the IQ route system. No longer does it just give you directions from A to B, now it also considers all variants on the journey, such as traffic, speed bumps and the time of day. With all this data it then calculates the quickest route, which is far more efficient.

You also get an FM transmitter which is useful, as it means you can get vocal directions over your music, rather than struggle to make them out. Watch this space for a video review!

Starting at 249.99 from Tom Tom
