The natural radio - coz radios are so in demand at the mo!

Natural_Radio.jpgHmmm, the natural radio. Radio's aren't the most popular source of music player at the mo and very often, when they do feature on the latest MP3 player or stereo, this feature goes untouched. So *why* would someone create this - the Natural Radio? It's not like it's monumentally attractive, but then again it is hugely eco-conscious so scores a few green points.

It was created by a Korean designer who thinks the structure of the radio should be significantly changed. Obviously he meant radios should resemble toys from yesteryear. You know, the kind of toys that existed in war times or the 1800s.

Find out how it works over the jump.

The clue is in the rocks. It has no dials or buttons whatsoever because it uses scales (what??? I hear you say). By placing stones on either side of the scales, you have organic control over the radio. So for example, if you want to change the volume or the frequency, you will need to place a certain amount of stones on the scale to get it just how you want it. Something tells me you'll be there for a while.

I guess it was also the designer's plan to create something convoluted that's not very functional but totally original. What I want to know is, does it come with the flat stackable stones or will you have to root around your garden for the necessary equipment to work your radio and hope for the best?

I'm not a fan. There is something very primitive about this. I need dials and buttons.
