Last night saw the launch of Gear4's Duo, the latest addition to their range of iPod speakers, joining the likes of the House Party and BassStation speaker docks.
The clue is in the name, as the Duo is a two piece speaker dock. This versatile home speaker comprises of a satellite speaker and a bass station. The satellite speaker which detaches from the bass station is the portable part. Once detached, you've got portable entertainment whether in the house or somewhere outside, like the park on a sunny afternoon. It also has a metal fold-out stand, is battery powered and will give you 8 hours of portability when fully charged.
The bass station is the part that stays at home plugged into your mains. This also doubles up as a charger for your iPod and the satellite speaker.
The Duo pumps out 38w of sound and 20w subwoofer when both parts are combined. Separately, the bass dock pumps out 20w of music and the satellite speaker 18w. It also comes with a remote if you're a bit lazy or like to be in control.
The docking port on the satellite speaker comes with adapters for a majority of iPod variants and can be folded away and put in the travel case for safe transit.
It's not out until June 1 and will cost ya £150. Not bad for a double-functioning speaker.
