Rejoice! Being a geek no longer necessitates sitting inside in front of your computer, getting what can only be described as a lab tan. Now, you can go to one of five English tourist attractions, safe in the knowledge that you can trial one of the first Location Based Media Solution.
Much like what HP did with the Tower of London, Node are kitting out London Zoo, Stourhead Gardens (both already up and running), the Eden Project and two other sites (all forthcoming) with their interactive experience. You'll be able to pick up a Node Explorer, and get tailored information and media as you explore the site.
In my head, that means that as you approach the lion enclosure you might get 'The Lion Sleeps Tonight' as your soundtrack, stats on the total number of fatalities due to lion mauling and perhaps a voucher for the ice cream stand near by. However, I'm off to try it out personally this weekend, so I'll let you know if I get my free ice cream.
