Though the country has embraced iPods to their hearts with a fervour normally found in religious ceremonies, as with every deity there are flaws.For Adam there was the Apple, and for us there is the problem of battery life (oh, and the inexplicable way that iPods have of dying a DAY after the warranty expires). The problem with solar panels on portable devices tends to be the fact that the panels will be so large they'll overshadow the device, but it seems Apple may have found a way of dealing with this issue. They've decided to place solar panels beneath the LCD screen which lets the device absorb ambient light as well as keeping it pocket sized.
Whilst it might work on an iPod, I'm not sure how long the battery life would be on a laptop, as the power needed to keep it running would be a lot more than an LCD sized screen. Fingers crossed that they'll figure out the kinks soon, and keep our iPod in juice for longer.
