Crank up some power and build up your muscles in the process

I'm starting to think that power outlets might become a thing of the past over the next 5 years or so. On second thought...nah. Nothing beats an electrical power outlet. Still, wouldn't it be nice if everyone used an eco-friendly gadget once in a while to help save our planet for future generations to come?

Presenting yet another green gadget with power-charging capabilities. It connects to most phones and basically anything with a USB connector. I'm not quite sure how long you'd need to crank the charger for to get sufficient battery life but it's likely you'd turn to it if stranded without battery life or you're trying to save on the electricity bill.

The hand-crank USB charger isn't particularly stylish, and in all probability this would be the last thing you'd turn to, to charge your lifeless gadgets. But, if you were just sitting in doors, or maybe wanted to do some arm exercise, it would be environmentally ideal to charge your gadgets using this.

It's also compact and lightweight, so its easy to cart around. It costs $40 from National Geographic, so it's not to heavy on the wallet either.
