Now I've been cutting back on my RPG time as I find it starts consuming every waking minute. However recent shots of the new Age of Conan game may have me coming down with RSI all over again. The problem is, now that I've seen the gorgeous footage of Level 80+,am I prepared to spend 250 hours achieving that status? Until I get there I won't be able to participate in awesome 24 player raid games either, which is quite upsetting. But with the monthly subscription clocking in at more than that for WoW, will anyone actually get to this point?

Perhaps the fact that it's being released on the Xbox 360 (potentially October) will help. By releasing it on two platforms Eidos is appealing to console and PC gamers, but we won't know whether the console version is up to scratch for a while yet.

It all sounds positive, but sadly Eidos seems to be competing for market share with the Age of Conan, rather than producing a market expanding game. One of the developers had this to say, '

'The Age of Conan is not a market expanding genre. It appeals to disillusioned World of Warcraft players rather than attracting new gamers.' Hmm. That doesn't sound to promising. You do get to affect your landscape though, ad have the opportunity to build forts, cities and change the landscape to your personal preferences. Will it take off? Time will tell.

Check back later for some footage of Thunder River, a Level 60 part of the game.

Uhm....it costs exactly the same as WOW.....exactly and less time to level than in WOW....which makes it better.

If you want a story to cover I would start with how fucked the whole saga of pre-ordering Age of Conan was.

After playing in closed beta I really like it, the anticipation is huge.

Quote:As Age of Conan Hyborian Adventures readies for launch the hype and popularity of the game is showing as over one million users have registered for beta making it the highest of any MMORPG in the western world. To compliment that high number there have also been over five million unique users that have visited the official site, but that's not all. Last week alone the official forums registered over 115,000 posts. Some people questioned if Age of Conan could give World of Warcraft a run for its money, but the interest to do so is certainly there.
