Butterfly dress that monitors your heart

butterflyheartdress2.jpgWIth this dress, not only will your crush have your heart a-thumping, he will literally have your butterflies a-flutter. This stunning concept dress by NYU grad student Alex Reed keeps track of your heartbeat, causing the butterflies to flap their wings in time. The butterflies are also aware of their surroundings, when someone else approaches, they will rise vertically in greeting - making them very social creatures indeed.

Designed from five different living species, the butterflies are lasercut from gold metallic linen and are created to be durable and light. The technology behind this creation is concealed behind layers of lightweight silk organza without sacrificing form for function.

The battery-powered butterflies can flap their wings for over four hours before reading a recharge. Continuing the perfect marriage of beauty and practicality, the dress can be worn with or without butterflies, and all non-washable parts can be removed for cleaning.
