Custom-Toast your bread with the Zuse toaster

Zara Rabinowicz Tech

Now some people like to start the day with cereal, while others opt for hardcore black coffee, but me, I like two pieces of toast and a dollop of low fat Philadelphia. Whilst I’m more than happy with my £4.99 toaster from Argos, it has occurred to me that I could be doing more with this humble appliance, and no, I don’t mean Pop-Tarts.

The Zuse toaster mimics the dot matrix printer and burns12 x 12 pixel images onto the humble toast, and can even be customized to your own designs. Should I wish, I could crunch down on a pixelated Mario or a toasted Britney Spears, and who wouldn’t find chewing on her a fun way to wake up?

The toaster uses an optical sensor to recognize the bread and then activates the digital process. No word on price yet as this is still in the concept stage, but it certainly gives food for thought.
